CROWDSOURCING WITH THE MOBILE ALERT FOR EFFECTIVE COVID-19 RESPONSE The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is threatening communities across the world. Getting information to the right person quickly can both protect and save lives. We are all in this crisis together, and it necessitates us working together in our communities.

Communication between the general public and authorities is key but sharing of actionable information isn’t always easy. So, how can we fix that problem? We can empower citizens to contribute and enable authorities to act. What if municipalities had the ability to crowd source information digitally from the community during this pandemic? What if crowd-sourced information could help community leaders get ahead of the COVID-19 spread? Hexagon India has a solution – and is offering free trials and discounted subscriptions to local governments to help communities during this event.

Reporting of problems related to COVID-19 must be quick and easy. In turn, this helps local authorities to resolve situations more effectively. Maintaining an open line of location-based information between the local authorities and citizens could be an important factor in preventing the spread of COVID-19 and maintaining the health of communities. Hexagon’s Mobile Alert is a cloud-based service that provides crowd-sourced location information to subscribing organizations such as local authorities and governments. Citizens can download and use readily available Mobile Alert on iOS and Android devices for free to send information to authorities.

MOBILE ALERT IN FIGHT AGAINST COVID 19 Mobile Alert is a cloud-hosted solution, including the hosting environment, processing logic, and downloadable application. The application has two interfaces. One mobile application and another web based geospatial dashboard. The mobile application is free, available to everyone, and any smartphone with Android or iOS is enough to launch it. This can be freely downloaded from iTunes or Google Play Store. The Web based cloud-based platform that enables providing subscribers, such as law enforcement authorities and health department personnel, with field information or reports collected by the mobile application (so-called civic crowdsourcing). This straightforward app makes it easy for people to:

• Take a photo of an area • Choose an appropriate category • Write an optional comment • Enter location (if GPS accuracy is poor, Bing Maps can be used to pinpoint location) • Optionally, provide contact information for authorities to follow-up

The Mobile Alert Smart M.App Bundle includes the Mobile Alert Configurator and Mobile Alert Viewer Smart M.Apps. With Mobile Alert Configurator Smart M.App, the user specifies the types of crowdsourced data they want to receive. The app is fully configurable, with options ranging from

naming reporting categories to specifying the geographical reporting area. With Mobile Alert Viewer Smart M.App, the user can see all of the crowdsourced reports in the dashboard view. They can also filter reports by category to gain tailored insights.

To truly understand the significance and utility of the this application, we will explore possible ways of rolling out this application to effectively monitor the Coronavirus pandemic spread.

REPORTING OF INCIDENTS VIOLATING SOCIAL-DISTANCING Mobile Alert can be used by citizens is to report incidents related to cases of violation of social distancing such as illegal gathering, mass prayers, crowded shops or marketplaces, crowded stations, group hooligans not following orders, etc.. This functionality allows drawing additional conclusions based on the spatial concentration of incidents in each category.

REPORTING OF HOUSES UNDER HOME QUARANTINE & SICK UNDER PRIVILEDGED PERSONS

Novel COVID 19 has an incubation period of around 2 to 14 days. Suspected individuals having been infected of this virus needs to remain under home quarantine for almost 14 – 30 days of period, as per government rules. This mobile application can be effectively used to mark and monitor houses under quarantine and allows society to report any violation of the rules. REPORT HOARDING & BLACK MARKETING Calamity brings along the activities of human notoriety to unduly benefit. This application platform can be effectively used in a discreet manner by civic society to capture incidents of hoarding, black marketing and shops selling essential commodities on heavy prices. They can use this application to capture photograph, pin to address, put in remarks and remain unknown. Because the application, doesn’t include any option to capture user credentials or uploader details. MAINTAINING SOCIAL HYGEINE & CLEANLINESS AFTER LOCKDOWN This mobile application can be effectively used to breaking of social hygiene and cleanliness after the lockdown is lifted. It needs to be essentially monitored that even after the lockdown opens, the cleanliness and social hygiene needs to be maintained, so that this endemic disease doesn’t gets enough chance to spread again and become a pandemic. As, we have a long time to go for either a vaccine or immunity build-up.
