Course Overview Fibre Optic Cabling in an Internal and External Environment

Our City & Guilds Fibre Optic Cabling in an Internal and External Environment course enables delegates to experience both practical and theoretical skills. The course looks at basic installation practices, fibre optic connectorisation, splicing fibre, external enclosures and test requirements.

Delegates will be able to apply the skills gained to real life situations involving cabling systems. The course focuses on the components, equipment and working practices that are used for premise cabling and fibre optic cabling deployed in an external telco environment.

The course is best suited for datacom cabling installers and network technicians who haveprevious experience in installing data cabling, but are wishing to seek new skills and opportunities.

Course Information

Our City & Guilds (3667-02: 102/103) Fibre Optic Cabling course offers a relevant and modern accreditation meeting the latest industry standards. All candidates are trained and assessed via installation simulated exercises. Delegates will be asked to:

+ Carry out fibre optic cable ‘dressing into a closure’ procedure

+ Test fibre optic installation using an OTDR

+ Interpret OTDR test results and complete client documentation

City & Guilds 102/103Fibre Optic Cabling 5 Day Course (9am - 5pm) £1100 + VAT

Programme Schedule

All candidates are assessed via two separate examinations, compromising of 50 multiple choice questions. This is a ‘closed book’ exam and is carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola system. All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.

+ The course leads to a fully accredited level 2 qualification in Fibre Cabling in an Internal and External Environment

+ Delegates are provided with a full colour comprehensive course manual to work through during the course

+ Further training is available through City and Guilds Copper Cabling in an Internal Environment
