Over the years, Hoboken has evolved from its industrial roots, and is now home to a large community of professionals, artists, musicians, and others who enjoy the close proximity to New York City, but opt for the conveniences and old-world charm that Hoboken provides.
Hoboken has a rich history and is renowned as the birthplace of baseball and the legendary Frank Sinatra. Well-known for its multitude of restaurants, bars, and nightspots, Hoboken attracts vibrant and diverse residents. Locals also enjoy the many cultural events, street fairs, and performances that are held throughout the year.
Jersey City, a port on a peninsula formed by the Hudson and Hackensack Rivers and Upper New York Bay, was settled before 1650. As the second largest city in New Jersey and a commercial/industrial center surpassed only by Newark, it is an important port of entry, a manufacturing center, and one of the metropolitan region’s fastest growing areas.
Jersey City attracts residents and visitors alike to its beautiful parks, including Liberty State Park, which features waterfront walkways, ferries to the Statue of Liberty, and an interactive science museum. Jersey City is comprised of many neighborhoods, including Paulus Hook, known for its historic past, and Newport with its lively restaurants and nightspots.
