Free Disposal of Bulky Items for Residential Trash Customers If you are a residential trash customer (who use the three carts) you are eligible for the 10/4 Pick-up Program. This free program allows residents to schedule special collections of up to 10 bulky items per appointment, four times per year. Qualifying items include bags of trash or yard clip-pings (that will not fit in the trash or yard waste cart), appliances, furniture, and mattresses. Contact Rainbow Environmental Services at (714) 847-3581 to schedule your 10/4 Pickup appointment. Most 10/4 pickups are scheduled for your next regular trash day. GOT FUEL? THE FUEL DOCK IS UP AND RUNNING! Fueling for our marine community is once again a reality! The former operator of the Mariner’s Point Fuel Dock, ceased operations on October 1, 2015. The City Council and staff worked with the operators, County and State Lands Commission to try to keep the fuel docks operat-ing. While operating a fuel dock is not a City function, ensuring the future availability of fuel in our community was of great importance to citizens. The City was able to purchase the fuel dock and sought proposals from quali-fied operators to restore and renew this important com-munity amenity. Maxum Petroleum was selected as the new operator, due to their qualifications and vision for the Huntington Beach fuel dock. The company has been in operation since 1946, and successfully operates fuel docks in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Once Maxum purchased the site from the City, they began the process of bringing the location into compli-ance with various State and local requirements for operation of new fuel dock. They also completed numer-ous upgrades and improvements, and officially began serving the Huntington Beach marine community on May 25, 2016.

Maxum Petroleum is open seven days a week and is located on the chan-

nel behind Simple Green, near the entrance to the breakwater. Hours are

Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday,

Saturday and Sunday.

To reach them by phone, please call (562) 280-0103.

Coyote Management Plan

We continuously receive calls and emails regarding coyote sightings and

complaints/issues with coyotes. Overly aggressive coyotes have been

reported in several areas of the City, especially in the area of Warner

Ave. and Bolsa Chica Road. The City of Huntington Beach has adopted

a Coyote Management Plan. The goal of the plan is to support coexis-

tence with urban coyotes using education, behavior modification, and

development of a tiered response to aggressive coyote behavior.

To reach this goal, the City has developed three primary strategies: public education, enforcement of laws

and regulations prohibiting the feeding of wildlife and appropriate tiered responses to coyote and human inter-

actions. These strategies require active participation on the part of the entire community.

The City of Huntington Beach requests the community to complete the on-line form to report the sighting of

and/or actions of coyotes. The City will use this information to take the appropriate public safety response ac-

cording to the Management Plan.

The online Coyote Incident Reporter reporting form can be accessed via the City’s website

(www.huntingtonbeachca.gov) by going to the “I Want To” link followed by the “Report” link and then the

“Coyote Issue” link. The Coyote Incident Reporter link can also be found under the City’s website “Web Spot-

lights” section.

Metallic Balloon Safety

Metallic balloons are a cheerful addition to any celebration, but unfortunately, they can lead to dangerous situations if not properly secured. When metallic balloons are not tied to a weight or released outdoors, they can lead to power outages, injuries, and property damage.

When contact with a metallic balloon results in a downed or dangling power line — even if the line appears not to be live —do not touch or approach the power line and call 911 immediately.

The RACES Program is administered by the Fire Department. RACES members use their personal equipment and skills, and volunteer their time to provide this service at no cost to the City.

The public and the news media are invited to observe and participate in the radio exercise which will be held on the bluff top area at Golden West and PCH. For more information contact Brevyn Mettler, Emergency Services Coordinator, at 714-374-1565.
