CALL FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS: CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL SEATTLE 2016 CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL SEATTLEChildren's Film Festival Seattle, an annual, competitive, international filmfestival presented by Northwest Film Forum, calls for films that aresuitable for children ages 13 and under to screen at the 2016 festival.The festival accepts live‐action and animated submissions, completedbetween 2013 and 2015, and entries are due by October 1, 2015.

YOUNG FILMMAKERS: MAKE A FILM AT REEL QUEER YOUTHREEL QUEER YOUTHLGBTQ youth and their allies, ages 13‐20, have a chance to useprofessional cameras and editing equipment to express themselves in asafe, open, and fun environment with a team of professional filmmakersand mentors. Working in small groups, youth will complete a short film.Reel Queer Youth takes place July 20‐24 at 12th Ave. Arts. Participantsare requested to pay what they can ($0‐295). Apply by June 30, 2015.

WHAT WASHINGTON STATE'S FILM SECTOR HAS TO DO WITH TRADEPUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNALWashington state's motion picture and TV industry directly employs8,500 workers and pays them $348.5 million in wages. The report alsofound that Washington state's film industry consists of 2,150 industry‐related businesses, which employ more than 37,600 people. Thosestatistics were released late Monday by the Motion Picture Associationof America in an attempt to persuade the U.S. Senate to pass TradePromotion Authority legislation, which gives the president greater authority to more quicklysubmit trade agreements to Congress.

EMP is more or less Seattle's ultimate package ‐ a chronicler of past rock'n' roll and an encyclopedia of present popular culture, all in a futuristic‐looking building. For the museum's 15th birthday on June 23, museumleaders threw a gigantic party in which they both celebrated EMP'saccomplishments and outlined the lessons that they had learned alongthe way.

QUEER ROCK CAMP IS MAKING HISTORY AND CHANGING LIVESSEATTLE WEEKLYQueer Rock Camp empowers youth and promotes music as a way toamplify resilience and self‐expression. The Seattle camp takes place June22 ‐ 27 at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, and then again in Augustin Olympia. Seattle Weekly profiles the event, its organizers, and how asimple idea that began in Olympia is starting to have a global impact. TheSeattle Queer Rock Camp Showcase takes place this Saturday, June 27, atthe Vera Project.

After many years of making ground‐breaking music as seminal DIY punkband Dead Moon, Fred and Toody Cole now survive by living off theOregon land and swigging Jack Daniels. And after 48 years of marriage,the two are celebrating their wedding anniversary by hitting the roadand gigging as an acoustic duo. For a handful of those dates, they'll bereviving Dead Moon for what could be the last time.
