district, featuring 900
homes built in the mid
1880s to date is bounded
by 5th Avenue on the

The Escondido Restaurant
Scene
Escondido is not only a great destination
for shopping, arts and entertainment, it is
also home to an enticing variety of
restaurants and eateries. There is
something for every one, with
offerings from many
different cultures: Italian, Mexican,
French, Chinese, Japanese, Thai,
Vietnamese, Continental American and
Fusion. Enjoy traditional American fare
like hamburgers and french fries or
something more rare like roasted venison
and muscovy duck legs. Several
establishments are committed to using
locally grown, organic vegetables and
free-range meats. A number of
restaurants are family-owned and have
been in business for many years. For
sophisticated palates, unique chef-
owned restaurants are located
throughout the City, with many in the
Downtown. Favorite national restaurants
can be found in Escondido, too.

BUSINESS
ORGANIZATIONS
The Chamber of Commerce has longbeen the “Voice for Business” inEscondido. The business movers andshakers often join the Chamber formany reasons: networking andrelationship opportunities, being amember of an organization that caninfluence state level legislation affectingbusiness, as well as the ability toparticipate in educational andinformational seminars.
Escondido is unique because inaddition to a strong Chamber, there areseveral business organizations thatspecialize in their own geographicareas. These areas have very uniqueassets and challenges. The largest andoldest is the Downtown BusinessAssociation (DBA), which alsomanages the Downtown BusinessImprovement District. The East ValleyAssociation (EVA), Mercado BusinessAssociation (MBA) and the SouthEscondido Blvd. Business Association(SEBA) are all active in making positivechanges to their business areas. Theseactivities include improving theirbusiness environment, making theirareas clean and safe, and working onindividual Area Plans that controlzoning, appearance and land use.
Comerciantes Latinos Asociados (CLA)is a bit different because it focuses onLatino business owners in Escondidorather than a geographic area.Business to business commerce, learning experiences, networking andfundraising for special projects in theLatino community are their focus.
Staying connected with the rest of theregion is also important, as is keepingup with new ideas and best practices.City membership in key organizationshelps to accomplish this goal.
The City has strong ties to thebusinesses in Escondido. It collaboratesand partners to maximize resourcesand the impacts of special projects andprograms. The City also builds lasting, trusting relationships with businessesand business organizations.
