COMMUNITY SAVINGS MOBILIZATION Hands-on Training
Communities manage their own savings as tool to organize themselves and build social structure among their ranks
Community savings mobilization strengthens the network in putting up the city funds to finance more upgrading projects for more communities
ENUMERATION SURVEY/ MAPPING HPFPI conducts city wide
enumeration survey focusing on communities in danger zone areas. The data will help local governments and communities to prioritize in their plans housing for poor and to target vulnerable groups that need immediate response in the cities
NETWORK FORMATION (External/Internal)
Urban poor communities undertaking citywide upgrading build networks to encourage participation of other communities within the city
CITY-WIDE UPGRADINGCommunity management of city funds revolved from upgrading loans develop capacities of community members in the areas of accounting, recording, documentation and financial management
CITY-WIDE UPGRADINGIt gives space for the community to work with young
professionals (YPS) and technical professionals in facilitating the design of the community projects
It gives the space to the community to argue to decide, to commit mistakes in the implementations but in the end they strengthen their governance structure in the community
PARTNERSHIP Community-driven upgrading engenders meaningful and strong partnerships with other stakeholders in society such as the local government
Participation in governance structures in the local government gives ACCA implementers opportunity to influence policies affecting the poor
PARTNERSHIP
City-wide upgrading develops the abilities of young professional (YPS) and the technical professionals in dealing with the communities in terms of the design, procurement planning and implementation process
INCREMENTAL HOUSING
Community-led housing construction reduce the cost of the houses, by exploring alternative technology that is suitable for the communityLoans for housing is based on the affordability level of the community. This is also a challenge to the technical professionals to help the community design houses in consideration of a limited budget
