Big Guerilla Productions presents

DigWritten by Seamus O’RourkePlaywright and Director Seamus O’Rourke has become well known for tackling serious contemporary social issues through humour and quirky but recognisable rural Irish characters. In some parts of rural Ireland graves are still dug by friends and neighbours of the deceased and not by professional gravediggers. This play is about that ritual… and about things that never get said between men… men who played sport together, men who would die for one another, men who would do anything for the ‘cause’ and yet keep their real thoughts a secret to the grave. O’Rourke himself revisits one of his finest roles as Big Tom O’Donnell and audiences are in for a real treat.‘Seamus O’ Rourke’s writing brings real lives of rural Irish people to the stage’ - Charlie McGettigan

No Tears Productions present

The Queens of Pimlico‘Sisters to the bitter end.’It’s Alma’s wedding day, only she’s marrying her older sister Rita’s ex-fiancé. With tensions high as it is, Alma has one more secret, but with “not a pot to piss in, literally” it could be her ticket to a better way of life, leaving her only sister and last remaining family behind. This two act play set in the early 1950’s tenements of Dublin will leave audiences with smiles on their faces and tears on their cheeks. No Tears Productions are back in the Civic Theatre with this new and hilarious heart-warming Irish drama. After the great success of critically acclaimed Bound and A Nice Bed To Die In, comes Derek Masterson’s latest play, Queens of Pimlico. ‘No Tears always manage to find a gentle balance between humour and genuine drama’ - Quality Waffle

The Headline Agency presents

Declan SinnottAccompanied by Vicky Keating on vocalsWorld Renowned Irish Guitarist, Producer, Songwriter and Folk Legend, Declan Sinnott with a career spanning over 40 years has played guitar and produced music for Irish folk luminaries such as Christy Moore, Mary Black, Sinead Lohan and John Spillane. He was a founding member of Horslips and Moving Hearts and spent 13 years producing the majority of Mary Black’s music. Since 2000 Declan has been guitarist and producer to Christy Moore. It may seem unusual for a 61 year old to be releasing his debut album but this is a very special album and one that doesn’t follow any generic patterns. He contends that his album I Love The Noise It Makes could not have been made before now. As much as anything this title describes Declan’s passion for what he does.

An Evening with Don BakerDon Baker, a fantastic harmonica and guitar player, has established himself as a prolific song writer with the release of his new CD My Songs, My Friends. His songs are covered by Sinead O’Conner, Brian Kennedy, Finbar Furey, Paddy Casey and Declan O’Rourke, to name just a few. Baker won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film The Late Men at the Australia Film Festival. He is rated by Charlie McCoy and U2’s Bono as the world’s finest acoustic harmonica player. Don Baker will be bringing his authentic sound back to the intimate setting of the Civic Theatre after a performance here last year - this promises to be a special show so book early to avoid disappointment.

I Mandala, Ireland presents

NagamandalaIndian English Snake playWritten by Girish KarnadDirection and Design by Kumaradas T NNagamandala is an elaborate and spectacular ritual of serpent worship in modern south India. Naga means serpent and mandala implies decorative pictorial drawings on the floor. The play depicts the divine union of male and female snakes. However, here the union was not with another snake, it was the union of a snake in the form of a human with another human. It is a story within a story narrated by Story (a character) to a playwright condemned to die if he is unable to stay awake the whole night. The piece explores human relationships, gender identities and the female psyche.
