Interesting FactsIt is also referred to as the "War Between the States" because it was fought between northern and southern states within the U.S. South Carolina was the first state to separate, followed by Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and several others. During the Civil War, glasses with colored lenses were used to treat disorders and illnesses. Surgeons never washed their hands after an operation, because all of the blood was assumed to be the same.
