Girls State Soccer Knockout Competition

A big congratulations to our Girl’s State Knockout

Soccer Team...and to their wonderful coach,

Mrs Thurling. The girls played a tough match against

James Erskine Public School last week. The girls ran

out convincing 3-0 winners. A wonderful team effort

saw all girls give their best to help their team be

victorious. They are preparing for their next game

against Banks Public School on June 8th. Good Luck

Girls!

Girls State Netball Knockout Competition

Congratulations to our Girl’s State Knockout Netball

Team – they played yesterday at Jamison Park. The

girls displayed wonderful teamwork and

sportsmanship coming up against a strong team from

James Erskine Public school they enjoyed the day

winning a game against Banks Public School.

Our Friendly Playground

Read all about our Friendship Seat and our lovely

Friendship Ambassadors in the report later in the

newsletter.

Just some Reminders…

No glass drink bottles allowed at school please…this is a big safety issue for us!

Fidget spinners are allowed in the playground but not in the classroom without specific teacher permission. Please be aware that some of the cheaper spinners can be pulled apart and have very small parts – you should ensure that any spinners your children have are completely safe.

No picking up or dropping off children in the Staff Car Park without permission – certainly those with a disabled permit are allowed to do this.

Please ensure your child has on a jumper or jacket in the mornings during winter. If you wish your child to be exempt from this rule please send me a letter regarding this.

Thanks everyone, hope you have a great fortnight.

Regards,

Mrs Michelle Lawrow

Principal

Clairgate – just great!

District Cross Country Carnival

Well done to our wonderful 64 students who

participated at the annual St Marys District Cross

Country Carnival at The Kingsway last week. All of

our Clairgate athletes tried hard and competed well.

Ms Paulic, Miss Grace and Mr Blanch were very

proud of everyone’s behaviour, effort and enthusiasm

on the day. Thank you also to our parents and

supporters who cheered us on during the day and

provided shade shelters for valuable protection from

the sun. A huge congratulation to the following

students who achieved a Top 8 place in their race and

will be representing the St Marys District team at the

Sydney-West Regional Carnival at Eastern Creek on

the 14th June:

*Cohan Bonanno (8/9 Yrs Boys)

*Navreet Sandhu (10 Yrs Girls)

*Jada Taylor (11 Yrs Girls)

*Jack Histon (12/13 Yrs Boys)

Champion Effort!

Congratulations to Cruz MacAlister who was recently

selected in the Sydney-West Regional Basketball

team. This is an outstanding effort as the final squad

of only 12 players is chosen from hundreds of players

from Parramatta to Mt Victoria.

Good luck Cruz at the upcoming State

Championship.

Cross Country Assembly

Clairgate’s annual Cross Country Assembly will be

held in the School Hall on Tuesday 20th June. All

ribbons and major trophies will be presented on this

day! All welcome!

Sport news from Mr Blanch

Greetings to everyone in the school community,

This week I would like to talk about the wonderful caring I have witnessed this week. There have been

many random acts of kindness from children, parents and teachers alike. The moments you see these

happen demonstrate that the little people and big people in our school are doing things right!!

So, thank you to the mates that encouraged and looked after a boy who was a little shy at the disco, thank

you to the concerned boys and girls and families that stopped at an accident on the way to school, thank

you to the mum that organised resource equipment to be made at no cost to the school and thank you to

the teachers who have excitedly gone off to camp with our Stage 3 - even Mr Blanch on a State of Origin

night!!

I would also like to thank you in anticipation for your support of an upcoming mufti day that we have

organised for next Tuesday, 6th June, 2017.

Long term families will know the name McCaffrey as the family was very involved with the school last

decade. Two of the girls were our school captains and all three children were excellent students and

athletes. It saddens me greatly to let you know that Taryn is very unwell. I have included a link to a recent

article from the Western Weekender that outlines her medical issues.

http://westernweekender.com.au/2017/05/desperate-battle-to-save-taryn/

We really love to keep the connections with our community and know that your support would mean

everything to Taryn and her family.

Please wear your Pyjamas next Tuesday, June 6th, 2017 and donate a gold coin.

Yours in Education, Mrs Lisa McInally

Clairgate WOWEE Program

Term Two, 2017

Its WOWEE time again!!

Dear Students and Parents, The WOWEE Program is Ways Of Working Extension and Enrichment.

The extracurricular enrichment experience program is designed to encourage motivated

students to work hard and continue to succeed.

It allows for an intrinsic love of learning to be catered for and acknowledged.

The program will have students working towards developing independent higher order

thinking skills and more critical ways of thinking as they learn and present information.

The idea of WOWEE is that an open ended task will be set for an extracurricular project

appropriate to their stage of learning.

The activity is completely voluntary and your child may choose to participate

if they wish to.

Term Two, 2017- Focus is Sculpture!!!!

The children are able to choose any subject that interests them and CREATE SCULPTURES!

They are encouraged to work with any media to create a three-dimensional work of art

using any material they would like. Be as creative as you can be!!

There are lots of ideas on Pinterest.

There will be no extra work in the classroom. This will be an activity totally completed in

your child’s own time and I will be responsible for feedback for these wonderful

presentations.

Please forward completed projects to me no later than Friday, June 16, 2017.

I am looking forward to seeing your interesting and creative presentations!!!

Mrs McInally

Please speak to me or call on 96701408 if you need further information :-)

Our Friendship Seat is located in the Canteen area. It is available for all students to use, if needed.

Sometimes students ‘lose track’ of their friends in the playground and need some help to find them.

Other students might need some help to join into a game. The Friendship Seat is the place to go for

help.

Clairgate’s Friendship Seat Ambassadors are ready and willing to help out. In addition to their own

preferred playground activities, the Ambassadors will:

identify students who may need assistance to find a friend or activity.

ask students if they need assistance

help students to find a same-age peer to play with or encourage them to join in to our

structured playground activities.

The Friendship Seat Ambassadors proudly wear a yellow smiley face badge .

We would like to acknowledge our Friendship Seat Ambassadors for Semester 1.

Kaya, Shakira, Chelsea, Vicsa, Christian, Tarni, Krystal, Madison, Ethan, Breanna,

Please remind your children that the Friendship Seat is available for them at recess and

lunch time.
