I. Once there lived many mice in a farmer’s house. They ate a lot of grains. The farmer brought a cat to catch the mice. The

mice were worried. They held a meeting to drive away the

cat.

II. They decided to tie a bell around the cat’s neck. So that the mice would hear the cat coming.

III. Then one old wise mouse asked, “Who will bell the cat”? There was no reply .

LIFE IN A VILLAGE

People living in the villages lead a simple life. In the village , a day starts early morning with thecrowing of the rooster. People wake up and start their daily work.

Most of the men go out for work , while the women do their household tasks. Children get readyand go to the schools. The males are mostly involved in farming. They work hard to grow cropsfor the country .

Cycles are the most common means to travel from home to work place. That is why there isless air pollution in villages. All in all life in a village is slow yet peaceful.

Ans.5 Subhadatta brought the pot out to boast about it. As he danced around with pot, it slipped and

broke.

Ans.1 Yes, he was sorry for his action. ’’if only I had not been foolish enough to boast about the pot, it will still be here. What a fool I am !
