July Celebrations! IT WAS WONDERFUL TO BE BACK TOGETHER AS USUAL this past Sunday morning. As Todd had said during his announcements on Sunday, our congregation has spent the past 14 weeks worshipping either online or in a split worship format, and it was truly a blessing to be united together as one body to worship together. Additionally, I was thankful to see such a large crowd gathered together again for our first in-person Sunday evening service. It is no secret that many people choose to only attend Sunday morning service for various reasons, but I was encouraged and hopeful by our crowd this past Sunday night that our church family will strive to be faithful in attendance to all worship services

that they have the ability to attend. THE CLASS OF 2020 IS SPECIAL in so many ways. This group of seniors has been monumental to Shelby and I as we have made our transition to begin our ministry in Centerville. This special group of 15 students has been active and involved in youth activities, patient with us as we learned the ropes in a new ministry, supportive of any new activities and events I have tried to implement, such good role models to Cade and treated him like their own family, and above all, dedicated to their own spiritual growth and the spiritual growth of others. There are so many more things to say about the class of 2020 as we celebrate and honor them this coming Sunday at 9:00am for our annual Senior Sunday. I hope that you are making plans to be a part of the celebration of this great group of students. THIS SUNDAY WILL END WITH A BANG as we celebrate Independence Day with our annual fireworks celebration. We have a wonderful evening of worship, followed by a period of hotdogs, fireworks, and a CCOC Youth favorite, SNOW CONES! It should be a wonderful evening to be with our church family and enjoy time outdoors together. I hope that you are planning to be a part of this special Sunday! In Him, Carter

2020 has been a roller coaster of a year for myself, my senior classmates, as well as the class of 2020 around the world. It has been filled with a whirlwind of emotions. Pride for having finished a job well done; sadness at the realization that it is over. Elation for what’s to come; fear of not knowing. Excitement to open a new chapter in life; sorrow to close an old chapter. Every graduating class goes through this when the time comes, but our class has dealt with something more. Each one of us lost something when the final months of our senior year vanished unexpectedly, whether it was a sports season, time with friends, free meals, or just closure. With our graduation and Senior

Sunday approaching, I have found this the perfect time to reflect on what has remained throughout everything. Each other. I could fill up the Messenger from the front page to the back for a year singing praises of my classmates, as well as recalling memories from our time together. However, we do not have enough paper for me to do that right now. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 tells us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” I am proud to be a part of this graduating class for many reasons, but I am most proud to say that when we do fall, we help each other back up. I do not know where I would be if I had not been surrounded by so many amazing young people my entire life, and I believe many of them would say the same. There is not another group of students that I would rather call my classmates, and there is not another group of people I would rather call my friends. I wish them the best as we go our separate ways, and pray that their love of the Lord continues to grow. I hope that you are looking forward to joining with us this Sunday as we have our annual Senior Sunday, and honor the Class of 2020. -Harrison

Tornado Relief

On March 3, 2020 during the early morning hours tornadoes touched down across Middle Tennessee resulting in widespread damage, hundreds of injuries, and 25 fatalities. One of the hardest hit areas was Cookeville, Tennessee. We announced to the congregation, when we were assembling in March, that we would be sending relief funds. This area continues the process of recovering from the devastation caused by the tornadoes. The Jefferson Avenue congregation has been greatly involved overseeing much of the relief effort. The Centerville congregation was able to send a total of $6504.00 to support the effort. We thank you for your concern and support.
