1. Many years have elapsed. Mr. Abel Merryweather passed away some years

back. Mrs. Slater is old and she realises how greedily she had behaved with

her father. She is grief sticken and regrets her action. She unburdens herself

in a diary-entry. Compose this on her behalf. 10marks.

2. Compose a short poem along with background pictures and colorful

presentation on the special bond shared by grandparents and grand-children.

integer.

Polynomial

Q.2) Obtain all the zeroes of the polynomial P(x) = 3x4 – 15x

3 + 17x

2 + 5x – 6 , if two of its zeroes are

1/√3 and 1/√3.

Q. 3) Find the value of ‘a’ and ‘b’ so that 1, –2 are the zeroes of the polynomial x3 + 10x

2 + ax + b.

Q. 4) If and and are the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial f(x) = 3x2 – 6x + 4, then find the value of α/β + β/α + 2(1/α +1/β) +3αβ.

Linear Equation in two variables

Graphical Method

Q.5)Draw the graph of equation 2y – x = 7 and determine from the graph whether x = 3, y = 2 is a

solution or not?

Q.6) Solve graphically the following system of linear equations:

(a) x + 2y –3 = 0 ; 4x + 3y = 2

(b) 3x + y = 1; 2y = 2 –6x

(c)

Q.7) Determine graphically the vertices of a triangle whose sides are:

(a) 3x –y = 7 ; 4x –5y = 2 ; x = -2

(b) x–2y + 8 = 0 ; 5y –x –14 = 0 ; 2x –y + 1 = 0

Algebraic Method

Q.8) Solve the following equations by substitution method:

(a) 3x + 11y = 13 ; 8x + 13y = 2

(b) x + 2y = 1.6 ; 2x + y = 1.4

Q.9) Solve the following using cross-multiplication method. Also, use any other method to solve them.

(i) (a –b)x + (a + b)y = 2(a2–b

2) ; (a + b)x -(a -b)y = 4ab

(ii) x/a = y/b ; ax + by = a2 + b

2. Where x, y are non-zero.

Q.10) Obtain all the zeroes of the polynomial P(x) = 3x4 – 15x

3 + 17x

2 + 5x – 6 , if two of its zeroes

are 1/√3 and 1/√3.
