Procedures: WHY?

Classes are EXTREMELY SHORT!! A lot to do in 46 minutes Typical Class:

1. Warm-up Activity & Attendance2. Brief Instruction3. Group Activity or Lab or Homework

Time4. Exit Ticket5. Dismissal

HOW? Entering The Classroom

Please enter quietly – It’s NOT Social Time

Go directly to your assigned seat Take out your notebook & pencilRead the Agenda & Start the

Warm-up work that will be written on the board

Always write the daily objectives in your notebook.

HOW? Be Ready

EVERYDAY: bring a pencil and your notebook EVERY FRIDAY: bring colored pencils and

colored markers for mini-posters &/or projects

When I need your attention I will raise my hand. Stop what you are doing and make eye contact with me to show that you are ready to listen.

Physical breaks are ok: you may get out of your seats & stand at the back of the class as long as you are not disruptive.

HOW? Absences &Tardies

Sign the tardy log book & attach a tardy pass to the clipboard. Do not disrupt the class by coming up to me.

Get the daily assignment from a classmate after class and do it at home.

If you missed a test because of an excused absence, arrange a time to make up the test after school.

Class Discussions

I believe that the most effective learning takes place when students are actively involved in discussions.

I ask lots of questions during instruction.

I want you to think and participate.

There are NEVER any wrong answers to my open-ended questions.

HOW? Homework

Class time will be given for all assignments & lab reports.

You may work in groups. If you finish, you have no homework. Turn assignments in on time for full

credit, but turn them in even if they’re late!

HOW? Leaving the Classroom

Volunteers Needed: 5 Minute Warning – Begin the Exit Ticket work in your

notebook 2 Minute Warning – Listen to my wrap up

At the bell: Wait to be dismissed Make sure the desktop & floor around you are clean Push in your chair & line up to show me your exit

ticket Turn in completed class work to the Period Basket Any work that you did not finish is your homework Put away all supplies
