What Is An Oxidation CatalystWhat Is An Oxidation Catalyst An OC (oxidation catalyst) is a material that increases the rate of a chemical reaction while itself not undergoing

any permanent change. The Clean Emissions OC has no moving parts. It is a stainless steel honeycomb structured substrate which has been treated with combination of precious metals such as platinum and palladium. The platinum and palladium are held in place with a “washcoating” treatment that has been applied to the stainless steel.

As a result when Ethylene and oxygen molecules adsorb onto specific sites on the Pt catalyst they are rapidly changed into carbon dioxide (CO2) and water vapor (H2O)

The absorption onto the catalyst provides a chemical shortcut in which reactants are converted to less harmful chemicals more rapidly than if no catalyst was present. From a practical point of view, because of its increased thermal conductivity properties the use of a stainless steel substrate core allows the catalyst reaction to occur quicker and at a lower temperature.

Questions & AnswersQuestions & Answers Does the Clean Emissions purifier require any

maintenance? NO, the purifier is designed to maintain itself during its entire lifetime. It does this by burning off any trapped carbon deposits during its activation process.

What is the expected lifespan for this product? The expected lifespan is 3 years. After that time you will start to see the efficiency of the catalyst begin to deteriorate.

If the catalyst is not on a piece of equipment will it continue to deterioate? No, in order for the catalyst to activate it must be exposed to exhaust heat.

Will the purifier rust or corrode? No, we use stainless steel in both our catalyst core and all associated housing to promote durability and prevent corrosion.

How much back pressure will be created by the Clean Emissions purifier? Every Clean Emissions purifier is sized to not exceed 5” of H20 back pressure.

Does the Clean Emissions purifier need to be installed in a certain way? Absolutely not, it can be installed either vertically, horizontally or right to left.

What is the most effective method for fastening the exhaust purifer to the tailpipe? We recommend either clamping (band, U Clamps, muffler Clamps) or welding the purifier in place.

Can the purifier be installed after the muffler? Yes, the only requirement for the catalyst to work will be the level of exhaust heat exposed to it. The higher the exhaust temperature, the higher the conversion rate.

What is the ideal exhaust temperature for optimum conversion? 300°-400° C. is an ideal temperature for the catalyst to reduce 95% + harmful emissions.

What is the maximum exhaust temperature the catalyst can handle? 1200 F is the maximum temperature the catalyst should be exposed to.
