CLEANING YOUR PC SAFELY
By: Delbert Reynolds
Materials What you need to clean your PC:
Soft brushes Can of compressed air Soft rags Dust masks Cleaning fluid (spray)
Compressed air usually sells from $3 to $6.
Directions Steps to cleaning your PC:
Step 1: Check your owners manual to see if it provides you with any directions. If it does, follow them.
Step 2: Get the supplies that you will need. Step 3: Shut down your PC. Step 4: Leave the PC plugged into the surge suppressor. Step 5: Disconnect all peripherals from the computer. Step 6: Remove the PC cover. Step 7: Ground yourself to the computer. Step 8: Use the compressed air to clean the fans, power supply,
drives and circuit boards. Step 9: Gently brush off dust that the forced air didn’t dislodge. Step 10: Brush any remaining dust out from the bottom of the
chassis. Step 11: Spray the cleaning fluid onto an anti-static rag. Step 12: Wipe the inside and outside cover thoroughly. Step 13: Replace the cover and reconnect the peripherals.
Warnings Try to work in an area with no carpet. Try not to touch as little as you can in
your PC to prevent static damage, which can eventually cause a system failure.
Try to remove poorly secured chips or components from your PC before you vacuum, you do NOT want to dislodge or inhale these pieces.
