Clearing and Adjustment
2 Clearing and Adjustment
Welcome
Welcome to the University of Birmingham Clearing Open Day. We know that choosing a university is a huge decision, which is why we are providing this opportunity for you to visit us and see exactly what academic experience we can provide.
Staff and student ambassadors (wearing bright green tops) are available in the Reception of the Aston Webb Building (R6 on the map) throughout the day to provide help and advice and to guide you around the University. There is a range of activities available for you to take part in throughout the day, so please do make the most of these and ask if there is anything you are unsure of.
Academic staffMembers of academic staff will be available to speak to about the courses you are interested in throughout the day. When you arrive, let a member of staff or student ambassador know which subject you are interested in and they will direct you to the appropriate stand in the Great Hall. There, you will be able to find out detailed information about what studying that course at Birmingham would be like from those who will be teaching you.
AdmissionsIf you have received an offer from us through Adjustment or Clearing and decide to accept your place while attending the Open Day you should visit our Admissions representatives in the Great Hall. They will be able to guide you through the next steps to confirm your place, and if there are no outstanding conditions on your offer we will be able to formally accept you on the spot and place you on our UCAS Track. If your offer is conditional on verification of your qualifications please remember to bring original or certified copies with you so that if you decide to accept our offer you will also be able to confirm your place with us during the event.
AccommodationWe will be running shuttle buses to our student accommodation throughout the day, where you will be able view flats and see what Birmingham has to offer. These tours run throughout the day and leave from Chancellor’s Court outside the Aston Webb Building, with the last bus departing at 3.15pm. If you’d like to view our accommodation, just ask a member of staff or student ambassador and they’ll be able to inform you what time the next bus departs. Members of the Accommodation team will also be based in the Great Hall to speak to you about the range of options still available for those who have not yet reserved accommodation.
Open Days 3
Campus toursStudent ambassadors will lead regular walking tours around the campus throughout the day. These will depart from the campus tour desk in the Aston Webb Reception and last approximately 45 minutes.
Student financeStaff from our Student Funding Office are available in the Great Hall to provide advice on all student finance concerns including student loans, scholarships and budgeting.
The city of BirminghamThe University of Birmingham is a campus university within a thriving city offering students a wealth of attractions from cultural activities to shopping and sporting events. Getting to the city centre from the University could not be easier; we have our own railway station on campus and the journey to New Street station takes around eight minutes. If you’re not from the area and don’t know the city well, it is well worth a visit if you do have time.
RefreshmentsThere is a range of catering outlets on campus open throughout Friday’s event, while Café Go in University Centre (R23 on the map) will be open from 9.30am–3.30pm on Saturday. Please ask our staff or students for directions to any of our catering outlets.
Wi-FiFree Wi-Fi is available throughout the day. Simply select the Open Day network and use the password ‘uniofbham’ to log in.
