PRAY FOR THE SICK AND SUFFERING OF OUR PARISH OREMOS POR LOS ENFERMOS DE LA PARROQUIA

First Sunday of Lent Today’s first reading describes the offering of first fruits the peo-ple of Israel were to present to the Lord in thanksgiving for their deliverance from Egypt and the gift of the promised land. Is my offering at today’s Mass an appropriate response to the many blessings the Lord has given me?

Black Bag Collection February 21 & 22

The volume of requests from those needing assistance in Plano due to unemployment, underemployment, health issues and homelessness remain high. SVdP solicits your help to meet the community needs. The St. Vincent de Paul Black Bag Collection is the weekend of February 21. The Black Bags will be passed around immediately following the regular collection during the offertory portion of the Mass. The St. Mark Conference provides direct assistance for basic ser-vices to the most needy within our parish community. This mis-sion is 100% funded by parishioner contribution and 100% of contributions go directly to those in need. If you miss the second collection opportunity, please feel free to place your donation in the Poor Box. Your continuing generosity to this shared mission is greatly appreciated. During the last quarter, we were able to assist 156 families serv-ing 479 individuals with financial and food assistance. During the holidays we assisted 44 families with Thanksgiving Dinners and 60 SVdP families with Christmas presents. We would like to thank the McDonald family and volunteers for their outstanding efforts for another successful Angel Tree program.

Thursday, February 11, 18, 25 and March, 3, 10 and 17 and Saturday, February 20.

40 days will be held on the grassy public right of way in front of Plano Planned Parenthood, 600 N. Central Exp. Planned Parenthood is located in the brown brick shopping strip on the SE corner of Plano Parkway & Central Expy., facing the northbound service road of Central Expy. To park, drive past Fry's main entrance, heading east on Plano Parkway then turn right on Executive Drive. This is the only place we can park. See map at: parking.prolifeplano.org. Walk on the grass on the public easement to reach the 40 days site in front of Planned Parenthood.

A minimum of two volunteers are needed for each hour for 24 hours. Please sign up for one or more hours to pray for 40 Days for the protection of life for the unborn. 40 Days this year has been named a ‘Rescue Mission’ - to save the lives of the Unborn. This is a peaceful vigil of prayer. All who attend will be asked to sign a statement of peace.

40 days is a great opportunity to make some extra Lenten sacrifices for the protection of the unborn who are in danger of dying from abortion. Let us not be found wanting to watch one hour with Our Lord.

We are stepping out in faith! We have a lot of days and times to fill!

To sign-up to participate on one of the days, please [email protected], or visit our website at 40daysforlife.com/plano or contact Joann Murray at [email protected] or 214-228-7504, with the dates and times for which you are volunteering.
