CLICK!Through the Grand Central Partnership,

Vanderbilt Hall will house a variety of specialty

bookstores for a one-year period to promote these

specialized stores that have vanished from New

York over the last decade due to competition from

giant booksellers and high rent real estate. The

topic for my specialty bookstore is instant film

photography, more commonly known as Polaroids.

The name of the bookstore is click! appropriately

named after the sound a snapshot makes when a

photo is taken.

MERCHANDISEclick! will feature books that contain Polaroid

artwork, as well as the various publications about

the history and techniques of instant photography.

In addition, the store will include books on

alternatives to Polaroid cameras such as the

Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer. click! will also

carry film for instant photography still in production

and other novelty cameras like the Polaroid PoGo

and various pieces from the Lomography brand.

FEATURESThe store will feature a gallery of Polaroid artwork

by up and coming artists, which will change

regularly. click! will contain an area where

customers may have their pictures taken (digital)

and have the option of picking up a copy of the

photo in a Polaroid-esque format. The backside of

the photo will contain information about the store

and will serve as a business card/advertisement

keepsake. Customers’ photos will also be displayed

as part of a rotating slideshow on the store’s three

lcd screens located next to the gallery.

EXTRASclick! will have a website that will provide

information about the store, book listings, store

hours, and upcoming events. There will be a

section on the website that will allow users to

download a plug-in that creates Polaroid pictures

for any digital image uploaded into the program.
