BHS’s PTSA and Academic Booster Club (ABC) are hosting a no-fuss fundraiser, “Everyone Can Use A Boost,” today through October 9. We have a $37,500 goal and we are going to get there. Our goal is student success in school and beyond. Please consider making a tax-deductible contribution today at https://bhsboosters.memberhub.gives/bhsboost. We have corporate and family sponsorships available with benefits for all. The Broughton PTSA and Academic Booster Club (ABC) enhance the educational experience for our 2,100 students. The PTSA and ABC fund technology updates, special needs programs, the school food pantry, educational software, foreign language special projects, social issue awareness, teacher grants, internship supplies and much more. GLOBAL POINTS OF PROGRESS - Egypt: Artifacts discovered in the sunken remains of Thonis-Heracleion offer insights into theancient city’s history. For centuries, Thonis-Heracleion was Egypt’s largest Mediterranean port and a hub of international trade.

STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS [GENERAL]

As we continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, the members of Distinct Youth Clubs are sponsoring movie daysOctober 7th and 8th in the West Wing of the Media Center. Movies will be shown during both first and second lunchperiods. Thursday's title is "Soul of A Nation: Corazon De America Celebrating Hispanic Culture." Friday's title is COCOthe movie. Students interested in celebrating with us can acquire special made "movie day" passes; club officers willdistribute passes in the cafeteria during lunch both October 5th & 6th. Please see Ms. Closs if you have questions orconcerns. See you on Movie Day!

AP Exam Registration for 2021-22Students in AP courses must join their teacher's online "AP Classroom" to register for their corresponding AP exam in May. IBstudents interested in taking AP exams must pay online. Exams are $96 each (fee reductions available for those who qualify).Register on the OSP site link link between Oct. 11th-22nd. Mr. Sauls will email each student their join code after they registerand pay for their exams. AP exams are FREE for all AP students who are enrolled in the corresponding AP course and enrolledin their AP Classroom. No further action is needed.Please review the AP Exam Info. Presentation for more details if you or your student plan to take an AP exam in May.

Juniors & Seniors considering veterinary medicine as a possible career: A group of VetPAC interns enrolled in the vetschool at NCSU will be at Broughton to speak with students on Friday, October 22. If interested in meeting withthese interns, sign up in the book outside the Guidance Resource Center [Room 1209].

Wrestling - if you are interested in wrestling, the season begins November 1. Coach Blumell is currently holding pre-seasonworkouts. In order to participate in pre-season workouts and/or tryouts, you must have a DragonFly account completed,which includes a current physical.
