Because Mesopotamia was situated near the Rivers Tigris and Euphrates the development of agriculture through

irrigation was able to advance. Agriculture, the domestication of plants and animals led to establishment of villages because people had the advantage of planting food and could stay in

one place for supply of nourishment instead of constantly need to move to new area’s to forage for food, villages led to

trade between people, which directed eventually the creation of Cities.

The annual flooding of the Nile River in Egypt a natural environmental occurrence provided farming fields with water for crops. The farms spread across the banks of the Nile River were completely dependent of annual flooding of the river to

irrigate the fields for crops. Not only did the annual flood provide farming fields with valuable water but also provided fields with fertile silt, which promoted excellent harvests for

the farmers.

Ultimately because of the advancement of agriculture Mesopotamia as a society was able to flourish. Farmers that grew crops for food lived in villages, which led to the creation of Urban Centers, leading to the creation of Cities in Mesopotamia. The advancement of agriculture for food supply had significant influence of the emergence of Mesopotamia as a society. Mesopotamia developed into one of the world’s very first civilizations.

Mesopotamian people created man made canals that carried water from the river to near by farming fields, which was used for irrigation. While the Egyptians relied on the natural occurrence of the Nile River flooding annually at the right time every year to fill dams and weirs that provided fields with irrigation.

Because of benefit of agriculture people that lived near these river banks were able to plant and grow their down food supply, the need to move from place to place to forage for food was imitated therefore the creation of building a village occurred. Mesopotamia and Egypt shared a common condition that supported their emergence of becoming societies however how the societies eventually grew into civilizations was a completely different path.
