Client Case StudyFirst EssexNew Bus Project

We were approached by First Essex to work with them to create a new logo, brand, livery and a host of support collateral for a new and revised airport service. We’re delighted to be supporting the team at First Essex on this project and we’ve worked closely with them to develop all elements of the campaign for their existing X30 service that runs between Southend Airport and Stansted Airport and their new X10 service that now runs between Basildon and Stansted Airport.

Challenges• The new X10 service was too launch before new vehicles arrived. • A rebrand challenge on an existing airport service, the X30. The route wasn’t changing but new buses are being introduced later in 2016.• A two-phase campaign with initial launch July 2016 for the new X10 service. Second launch for the X10/X30 combined, with the new buses and all the benefits they will bring, November 2016.• Create a variety of collateral to support both campaigns as well as creating a new logo, brand and livery.

Solutions & Implementation• Working with Adam Keeble, Marketing Manager at First Essex, we designed a logo, strapline and brand for the X10/X30 airport services that captured what both services look to deliver• We then continued to work with Adam to create all of the items on our project plan and schedule in deadlines. Regular project plan calls has led to a close working relationship between First Essex and Buzz. It’s this team ethos that’s the main driver when it comes to taking outline ideas from First Essex and translating them into content and briefs for design• The outputs of this project have led to a significant amount of collateral for the phase 1 launch and beyond. We’ve touched on almost all marketing elements with this project – on bus materials, external bus advertising, social, online and digital media, route marketing materials, timetable covers, Travel Shop posters – to name a few things!

ResultsThe new X10 service had a soft launch in July 2016 with the service now operating from Basildon to Stansted Airport. A big bang launch followed on a very wet, rainy day at Stansted Airport in November 2016! However the weather didn’t dampen the spirits and the new buses in their livery, designed by Buzz Marketing were on show to stakeholders, customers and staff.

What the Client Thought?Working with the team at First Essex was a real pleasure and we think the feeling was mutual.

Alex Jones, Managing Director at First Essex comments; “We approached Buzz Marketing to help and assist with the roll out and rebrand of our First Essex airport services. The brief was challenging and ever growing and needed to be split over 2 stages throughout a number of months.Through Paula and Claire’s vast experience of the bus industry, their expertise and attention to detail, enabled a hugely successful roll out and launch of both services, with eye-catching livery, interior information panels and branding of 12 brand new vehicles including a full communications roll out across all airport services. No job big or small was ever a problem. It was a pleasure to work with such a down to earth agency that knows exactly how to take a brief and assist with projects, on time and most importantly on budget. Plus our new livery has certainly created a ‘buzz’ amongst our customers and stakeholders since the launch. A big thanks to Buzz Marketing and the team.
