1)Various pollutions caused for environmental change 2)The decrease of resources→We need to develop green energy

What is nuclear power?

1)Use controlled nuclear reactions to get power, heat and electrical energy.

2)Nuclear energy in the reactor is converted into heat.

3)Heat turns water into steam to trigger the generator.

Nuclear plants are always near seasides because of its need of water.

Why do we have to use it?

1) Because of global oil & colliery depletion, we need much cleaner energy.2) It doesn’t release harmful gases 3) Greenhouse effect won’t be intensified.

Disadvantages

1) High cost of plant construction2) Thermal pollution3) Radioactive contamination4) Problem of nuclear waste

Sources of Power Generation in Taiwan

1. The first nuclear plant was built in 19702. There are 3 plants in Taipei County and 1 in Hengchun, Pingtung County.

1. Government stored nuclear waste on Orchid Island2. Radiation leaks may occur.

Questions

1) What do you think about nuclear power? Is it good or bad for us?

2) Are there other environmental-friendly methods of generating electricity?
