RETRACED FIGURE EIGHT

Make a loop in the rope with about 5 ft of working end.

Go over the long end and through the hole.

Pull the working end through harness or carabineer

Take working end and follow through knot back around.

Double over section of rope.

Pull tight!

BACKUP BARREL Grasp the end of the knot. Wrap it three times around the rope in a downward

spiral. Pass the end alongside the trailing end, up through

loops and out of the top. Pull it tight. Make sure to leave a tail.

BOWLINE ON A BITE Double a section of rope

and form an “eye”. Pass the free end through

the eye forming a double loop below the eye.

Spread open the free end and bring it down to the bottom of the double loop.

Pass over double loop and continue up to top of eye

Pull the double loop while holding the line.

BUTTERFLY KNOT Twist the rope to form a

loop Form another loop by

twisting loop you just made. (looks like an 8)

Bring the second loop down and under rope.

Pass the 2nd loop through the 1st.

Pull the two ends in opposite directions.

PRUSSICK KNOT Take a cord and form a

loop underneath the rope you want to append to.

Loop the cord over itself and over the rope.

Repeat 3-5 times. Bring the rope through

the bite one more time and pull through the cord.

Pull to tighten.
