Presenter
Presentation Notes
A physician may think of an idea to do a clinical research, ultimately to advance their research and help patients. A pharmaceutical company may approach a physician because of their known specialty and invite them to participate in a study.

Begin: Principal Investigator has an idea/study protocol

or an industry invites to participate in a study.

End: study is ready to enroll

subjects/patients.

Why are we focusing on the Study Start-up?

Page 6: Clinical Research Improvement in Systems and Processes ... · Clinical Research Improvement in Systems and Processes ... Principal Investigator has an idea/study protocol . ... PowerPoint

The survey conducted in May 2015, 85% of Full Board studies

The study start-up is taking more than 100 days, not meeting industry expectation.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Over the next 3-5 years the goal is to hire 25 physician scientists and grow research funding by 50%. To be prepared to support this goal, we have been improving the infrastructure - processes and systems supporting the clinical research study start-up component.

Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.

Here is what it feels like…

Presenter
Presentation Notes

High curling walls are all around you, tall silos… All you can do is to keep moving, Forward and back, Forward and back,…

“The Matter of Time”, Richard Serra exhibition

Presenter
Presentation Notes
You walk in and inside these towering walls and sheets of steel, in complex spiral, shifting in unexpected ways, walk around – experiencing dizzying and unforgettable sensation. All you see is what’s right in front of you, no sense of further direction, no visibility of where you are, 14 feet high curling walls are all around you, tall silos. All you can do is to keep moving forward and back, forward and all the way back within the sculpture, until finally you get out of it. https://www.guggenheim.org/artwork/17143
