Something We Should Look Into or Immoral Practice?

Explanation For each slide, I will be giving an argument for

each side, whether it be for or against cloning. I will also give a photo of a person that is either for or against cloning.

Beneficial Or Immoral?

For Against

Funds for cloning should be made because it will enhance the quality of how we live today.

No. Cloning could very easily result in defective humans. In fact, cloning animals just has a 2-3% success rate. It is too risky.

Ian Wilmut Cloned Dolly in 1997. However, he still thinks more government funding should go towards cloning.

What about Livestock Cloning?

Against For

It is said that cloned human beings are also at higher risks of getting fatal diseases.

Then, why don’t we give livestock cloning a try? It makes the crops immune to pesticides and herbicides. Also, if we can clone the crops, then we will never run out.

Page 6: Cloning

George W. Bush banned any government funding towards cloning, as he says it’s immoral because of the destroyed

embryos.

Do you really want to…

For Against

The FDA made certain products safe to eat from cloned animals. If this is true then we will spend a lot less money for meat and dairy. Also, the FDA would be a trusted source, yes?

Do you really want to drink milk or eat meat from CLONED cows? What if the cloned animal you get the food from is defective? That doesn’t sound safe to me.

Jerry Greenfield, the co-founder of Ben and Jerry’s was very disappointed when the FDA classified food from cloned

animals to be safe. In 2007 he led a protest against this.

Are we ready to accept cloning?

Against For

Cloning humans has an 11% moral acceptance rating. There is good reason for that too. If you want to clone a human or animal, the embryo gets destroyed and replaced.

Dr. Zavos and other doctors are making significant attempts to make cloning safer. He says in two years he will have a safer way to clone humans and animals.

Page 10: Cloning

Dr. Panayiotis Zavos, the cloning expert has made many strides in cloning experimenting. However, he is very

controversial.

Funding Please?

For Against

George Bush put a ban on all government funding towards cloning. He needed to understand it is something we have to try! You can just shut the door on the whole thing because YOU think it’s immoral!

There are two good reasons why no gvt. Funding should go towards this topic. We are in debt as a country and cloning is EXTREMELY expensive. Also, it’s not just Bush who thinks it’s immoral, it’s also 89% of America that feels this way.

THE END

Now, after reading my powerpoint and wiki, it’s time for you to decide. Are you for or against cloning? Is it beneficial or immoral? Let this

heated debate rage on!
