CLOSED GROUPS AND MINI STAYS IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK CITY
2020
02
LOCATIONOur closed groups programs take place in our year-round adult school located in the heart of Brooklyn heights, “The Village in the City”.
Our school is just one subway stop from Downtown Manhattan - or 30 minutes’ walk on the Brooklyn Bridge. The perfect location to discover New York City!
There is one subway stop at the foot of the school serving the 2, 3, 4, 5 and R lines; and another subway stop just 5 minutes walk away serving the A, C and F lines. It is very access the school from any of our homestays in Brooklyn.
The school is also right by the Montague Street Shopping District, where students can find a variety of shops, delis, coffee shops… The famous Brooklyn Promenade, which looks out over the East River and Manhattan, is just an 8-minute walk from school.

SCHOOL FACILITIESThe school takes up the entire 34th floor of Brooklyn’s tallest landmark building, which was built in 1928. The views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Statue of Liberty are breathtaking!
BSL offers a clean, bright and comfortable learning environment with modern classrooms, a small communal kitchen area, free internet and Wi-Fi. Hot fresh coffee and tea are served daily.
The atmosphere at BSL is warm and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and everyone knows each other. We will make sure you feel at home in our school!

ENGLISH COURSES
For your group trip to New York City, we can cater for groups of any size, any age and any level. Groups are taught in small groups of 12 students maximum per class. If the group is small (12 students or less), they can have their lessons in one closed group as long as all the students have a similar level. For larger groups of up to 35 students, we can divide the students in small classes of different levels.
We conduct a level test on arrival to place students in groups according to their level. You can decide how many English lessons you want per day or per week, but we recommend a minimum of 8 lessons per week (= 6 hours). Course materials are included.
Our academic team will be happy to tailor the lessons around your specific interests: subject or topics covered at school, exam preparation, business topics etc… We can also organize outdoor classes in museums or places of interest to make the lessons more fun and interactive.
Classes take place in our adult school in Brooklyn Heights, in the afternoon during the high season (May to November) or sometimes in the morning in low season, depending on the group size.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALSOne great advantage of studying with BSL is that all of our accommodation options are within a short subway ride (30 minutes on average) from the school. At BSL, we spend time selecting the right families, we recruit and visit them all ourselves so we know them well and can make quality placements according to our students’ profiles and needs.
A host family can be a couple with children, a retired couple, a single parent, or even a single person. Ethnic diversity is an important aspect of New York’s cultural identity, so some hosts may be of Asian, African, Hispanic or Middle Eastern descent, but English is always spoken in the home.
In a homestay you will be able to share the host family’s lifestyle. You will be welcomed in the home like a member of the family and will experience life in New York as part of an American family.
With the Half-Board option you will get breakfast and dinner at home every day. You will be expected to respect the family’s meal times, and let them know if you are not able to make it one day. This is the best option to make faster progress in English as there will be more opportunities for conversation and linguistic immersion.
Lunches are served at school or taken in restaurants during excursions/outings
