After a hectic day concluding their first brush with diplomacy,

the participants found themselves at the Expressions to unwind with the

sumptuous feast laid out by the NISV Kitchen. A casual ambience, soft music

and candles suffusing a soft glow added to flavour of the delicacies served.

The much-anticipated NIMUN Ball followed, with delegates packing into

the auditorium, and dancing to the trendy beat set by Mohit Ahuja. The

decked up auditorium, complete with LED light balloons and flashing lights,

were much appreciated by all. Dancing into the night, delegates finally

A crisis arose in the committee shortly after it was reported India had to stop its production and export of

vaccines, much to chagrin of other nations, as India is the largest producer of vaccines.

Larger nations threatened to impose sanctions unless exports were resumed.

After extensive discussion, the crisis was averted, as all nations came to a conclusive agreement. They then

formed a resolution which was passed unanimously.

According to resolution, Iran to be given nuclear power, but with restrictions.

A crisis was introduced wherein it was found that the Iranian government collaborating with Saudi Arabia had abducted

the daughters of the Russian president and that Saudi Arabia was blackmailing Russia. The daughters were eventually

brought back by the Russian military. It was revealed that Iran had bombed Israel in collaboration with the Israeli

government. Iran was given nuclear aid by Israel from its stockpile. Israel was bombed in a remote area (no casualties),

and the USA had helped Iran to compromise Russian security. Israel wanted to create this entire hoax in order to get

extra monetary funds. A temporary chaos ensued, with multiple debates and rebuttals, all of which was soon nullified as

all nations involved came to a consensus and formed and passed a resolution.

After a groggy start, the committee gained momentum with all delegates engaging themselves with the

topic. The delegates’ wits were tested when it was reported that Nigeria’s population would increase to as much as

the USA’s by 2050. Discussions immediately ensued as to how to resolve this potential catastrophe. New Zealand

proposed Russia take in part of the growing population, a prospect which Russia rejected vehemently.

Three working papers were merged to form one resolution on solutions to overpopulation, which was voted

upon and ultimately passed.

SOCHUM discussed the relevance of journalistic

freedom and protection, focusing on the

harassment of journalists in various countries. They

were informed that a leading Indian journalist,

Arnab Goswami, had been assassinated. Debates

followed regarding the safety of the voices of

media (‘the fourth estate’) in respective countries.

Eventually, all nations arrived at a consensus,

forming a unanimous block that created a working

paper which then passed as their final resolution,

concluding the day’s events.

UNSC

The delegates of the UNSC continued debate on ISIS activity in the Levant region. A crisis arose

when delegates were informed that Ukraine stole nuclear weapons from Russia, and that North Korea

had a nuclear stockpile. Heated debate followed wherein the delegates of Nigeria and the United

States, along with the guest delegate of South Korea questioned the integrity of North Korea’s intent.

Solutions were discussed, Nigeria encouraging voting upon the resolution drafted by the USA and Nige-

ria, wherein sanctions are posed upon countries involved with the ISIS, which was later passed unani-

mously.

The DISEC has begun working papers and resolutions.

Crisis introduced: UK compromised the cyber security of multiple nations planning a strike on Russia,

which will jam all servers in order to make out if Snowden has revealed vital information.

Countries have called this a ‘gross violation’ of the UN Charter and condemned the act.

The group broke up into smaller blocks and three resolutions were formed; the first was largely anti

espionage in its stance, the second

allowed espionage with consideration

of human rights, while the third

excluded human rights as described in

the UN Charter. They were voted upon

and the second resolution was passed.

ECOFIN

UK & USA found guilty of corruption, directing funds from the IMF and the World Bank to their own

accounts to weapon development programs, debating on termination of IMF and the World Bank. One unanimous

resolution was drafted and passed. A KGB Agent revealed in a press release that USAID had conspired with the

government of the UK to gain more funds for itself from the IMF and the World Banks. Through this extra monetary

fund, they planned to develop their weapons program. France, Russia and China condemned this and have asked the

World Bank and IMF to stop giving monetary funds to the USA

Heated argument followed, but eventually the involved parties reached a consensus and a resolution was

formed and passed to combat the growing problem of corruption in development programmes and the setbacks

they cause.
