ACTIVITY 2
Preparing for a day in an English primary
school
Dressing a puppet in a school uniform
(suitable for GS I)
Materials:
- puppet and differently coloured clothes
(jumpers, shirts, skirt, shoes…) out of
laminated paper
Teaching aims:
The pupils should remember and select the parts
of a school uniform.
The pupils should name the parts of the school uniform.
The pupils should imagine and act out the preparations of an English pupil.
Procedure:
The pupils work in pairs. Each two pupils get a puppet and clothes out of
paper. They have to select the parts of the school uniform out of the various
clothes and dress the puppet alternately. It is essential to say the sentence:” I
put on my…” while dressing the puppet.
Teacher’s language:
Get together in pairs. Look at all of these clothes! Which of them do you need
for a school uniform? Take them and dress the puppet correctly. But be
careful, you always have to say the sentence: “I put on my… black shoes, for
example.” along with putting on a piece. One of you starts and then it is the
turn of the other one. Okay, Lisa? You put on one piece of clothing, your
neighbour Elena puts the next one on, then it is your turn again.
