Clothing during the time of Johnny Tremain

 

Introduction

During the 1700's the clothing was very formal. The women never wore anything shorter than where their knees were. In fact, everything was always past their knees. The men always wore a nice shirt that was tucked in.

                    Fact # 1During the 1700's, a flashy way of dressing was called macaroni.

People who wore a "macaroni" style of clothing usually had a lot of money.

Ladies wore pastel colored dresses called mantuas. They had closed skirts and they wore lace caps.
