If you did not get your record book at the Achievement Program, your club leader should have your book. There are also several trophies that were not picked up and they are at the extension office if your club leader does not have them. PUBLIC SPEAKING We held our County Public Speaking Contest at Chesapeake College on March 15th. There were 88 speakers, including the Clovers. Congratulations to all of you who attended. Our Champions, who go on to compete in the state contest, are as follows: Prepared Speech Champions- Jr, Aida Thiel; Int, Caroline Taylor; Sr, Makayla Patterson. Radio Spot Champions – Jr, Olivia Coppage; Int, Stephen King; Sr, Logan Schweiger. Extemporaneous – Jr, Brileigh Francis; Int, Piper Patchett; Sr, Kiersten Lancaster. Interpretations – Int, Caroline Winterstein. Our brave Clovers who recited the 4-H Pledge were: Raegan Rippel, Mason Martin, Mason Mills, Ava Carrion, Heath Duty, Andrew Kimball, Ryen Thiel, Gavin Usher and Brandon Williams. In addition to the 88 speakers, there were approximately 16 who were sick and could not compete. We appreciate that you notified us and we hope you recovered quickly. There were also 26 contestants who simply did not show up. This is unacceptable! There were 3 from Clover Seeds, 3 from Clover Leaf, 3 from Farm to Market, 1 from Go Getters, 1 from Growing Together, 1 from Goat, 3 from Loco Llamas, 3 from Pony Express, 3 from Shooting Stars, 3 from Sudlersville Superstars and 2 from Wags & Whinnies. By not showing up you deny the next person in line the ability to compete. You also change the class sizes which affects the judges and the timing of the classes. Need we say more? According to the sign-up sheet, we had at least 68 volunteers who came out and helped on March 16th. All of the barns were cleared of leaves and debris and lots of sticks and leaves were removed from the grounds. It’s looking good out there!

CHARTER RENEWALS Thank you to all of the club leaders and club presidents who worked to get their club re-chartered on time. You may receive a letter from the state office if there are items to be corrected. As of yet, we have not heard from them. VOLUNTEERS There are many adult volunteers who re-enrolled with 4-H Online. Thank you! Quite a few of you are still in the “pending” mode. The reason for that is that you must now be a trained UME Volunteer to be put through to “active”. We are working on updating our files to get everything in order. Many of you will need to fill out a form that may be missing from your files. All of those forms must now be uploaded into the system by the office staff. We will be getting in touch with you in the near future. Those of you who wish to become trained UME 4-H Volunteers, please contact Sally or Chris. We will work to set up some more trainings.
