From the News desk False Bay Yacht Club steamed to victory in race three of the Ola Lipton Challenge Cup offshore of Durban today (Wednesday). Three points separate the top three positions on the overall leader board, with Point Yacht Club remaining on the top of the log, Royal Cape Yacht Club in second and today’s successor, FBYC still in third. Co-Skippers Markus Progli and Andrea Giovannini racing on Intasure FBYC Challenge had a much better start than yesterday, putting them in a good position, “We got into a controlling position early on, which we were relieved about.” said co-skipper Markus Progli. “Kudos to PYC for sailing fantastically well and Greg and the RCYC guys sailed a magnificent race, coming back from a seventh to finish third. But there is still a lot of racing to be done, you can’t win it yet but one bad race and you certainly can lose it!” Progli stated. Second overall with a third today (Wednesday), Greg Davis representing the Royal Cape Yacht Club agreed with Progli’s comment, “Last year I was nine points ahead and one terrible race saw me lose the title. Anything can happen.” “We are just taking it one day as it comes; tomorrow (Thursday) is another day! Everything is going all right; it has been lovely weather and lovely conditions. The team is in high spirits and the boat speed is going well.” The skipper with most titles under his belt had to work incredibly hard today, after they were lying fourth they snagged a plastic bag, “We lost a few positions but once we flossed and got rid of the hindrance, we settled into regaining our position.” The fleet have sailed the required 12nautical mile races required, with only two remaining days left, the tactics on the water is going to be epic. Subscriptions and Mooring Fees – Letter from the Treasurer

1 July 2013

Dear Member

RCYC MEMBERSHIP FEES – KIND REQUEST FOR PAYMENT

The past membership year has been a great success due to your loyal and sustained support which led to the GENCOM

deciding not to increase your subscription fees and annual mooring levies.

Once again, the Club has raised the appropriate invoices and has recently sent you your summary statements. Your

early payment of your membership fee is hereby requested in order to ensure the sustainability of the great facilities

at your club and to enhance your and your fellow members’ sailing experience during the coming year.

Kindly note that your club’s Constitution requires that all membership fees be settled no later than 31 July of the

respective year.

You are therefore kindly requested to ensure that your payment is received on or before 31/07/13, providing clear

reference to your membership account.

Debit orders are gladly accepted - to arrange this facility please contact our Financial Manager, Mr Barry Heath

([email protected]) or Mrs Harriet Symons ([email protected]) who will arrange the appropriate process and

documentation.

On the formal side of things your club has to invoke those provisions as regulated by Clause 8.9 and 8.10 of your

Constitution should payment not be forthcoming as it has a duty towards those members in good standing. That said,

I do not wish to lose a single member and in this regard you are invited to arrange a confidential appointment with

me should you wish to discuss any financial predicaments you may be experiencing.

Thank you to those of you who are already in good standing.

Rest ensured that your committee is focusing all its energy to better your sailing experience and your use of the club

facilities.

Thank you for your kind attention to the payment of your membership fees, it is highly appreciated.
