President’s Report April 2018
Hello to all members.
Your club was formed on the 26th March 1981 and is now in its 38th year. We celebrated
our 37th anniversary one day early on the March run. Thanks to Tammy for organising and
bringing the anniversary cake to the run. I heard a rumour that she only made it to the cake
shop with one minute to spare before they closed for the night and I think Mark may have
broken the land speed record to get her there. Well done guys.
It has been mentioned before but I will miss the May and June meetings as well as the April
and May runs as Di and I will be travelling overseas for around 9 weeks. Mark and Tammy
will also be overseas for some of this time so I have asked Bob Taylor to step up and conduct
the May meeting. Hopefully Mark will be back in time to run the June meeting. Thanks guys
for helping out.
Di and I have now officially retired having sold our business. This will mean we will miss a
lot more meetings and runs in the coming years but our passion for the mighty GT’s and this
club will never wain. We are also “thinning the herd” with our GT collection but we will
always have a GT in the garage. That’s a Ford Falcon GT for those cynics who know I also
have a Kia GT in the garage. With retirement, it is just not practical to have so many Falcon
GT’s that we do not have the time to use.
This month saw Di sell her beloved Readymix Orange XA Hardtop to fellow member Troy
Postle. Di has owned this car for the past 19 years and was quite sad to part with it but we
were happy for Troy to take over the custodianship of this special vehicle. We were pleased
that the car will stay in Brisbane and we know Troy will love it just as much, if not more
than Di has.
The President’s run is coming up in June and will be a bar-b-que run. If you haven’t been on
a run for a while, how about getting the car out and making an effort for this run. We always
try to get big numbers for this run and this year will be no different. There is nothing better
than cruising with a big group.
Our Facebook page – Falcon GT Owners Club of Qld Inc – has lots of current information,
photos and posts from members as well as from our Facebook Guru, Jarrod Bonney. Jarrod
will be trying to keep members up to date with what is happening in the GT world as well as
advising any last-minute changes to any newsletter schedule. It is important that as many
members as possible join this site to get the latest updates. If you enjoyed a run or anything
about the club then post it up. If you didn’t enjoy a run or want to complain about
anything – PM Jarrod on Facebook or email a committee member. Facebook is not the
place for negative comments and/or keyboard warriors. Let’s keep our page positive.
Please drop me an email with any suggestions, complaints or compliments regarding the club
or any of the team to [email protected] and I will get back to you.
Cheers
Keith

I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colours yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what colour it was. She would tell me and was always correct. It was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these colours yourself!"

BREAKFAST RUN Eagle Heights Hotel
Mt Tambourine
We had around 40 cars and a ring in or two. Great
effort. By the way check out the cheeky little
monkey trying to help clean up the rest of the
cake she was in her element. Thanks again for a
great morning. Probably should have taken more
car pics but I think
took care of that,
Thanks Troy. Thanks
to everyone who made
the run to Eagle
Heights this morning.
It was great to see
some of the young
adults who we met as
children many years
ago now coming on runs and some with their own
children. Good to get a few Ford fanatics from other
clubs attend as well. Special thanks to Tammy for
organizing the cake to celebrate our 37th Anniversary,
to Steve for efficiently leading the run and to Pete for
giving us a
warning about the
roadworks which
most avoided. It
was great to get
the GT out for a
run.

……………………... A FIREMAN came home from work one day and told his wife,
"You know, we have a wonderful system at the fire station:
BELL 1 rings and we all put on our jackets,
BELL 2 rings and we all slide down the pole,
BELL 3 rings and we're on the fire truck ready to go.
"From now on when I say ‘BELL 1‘ I want you to strip naked.
When I say ‘BELL 2’ I want you to jump in bed.
And when I say ‘BELL 3’ We are going to make love all night.
"The next night he came home from work and yelled " BELL 1!" The wife promptly took all her clothes off. When he yelled "BELL 2!", the wife jumped into bed. When he yelled "BELL 3!", they began making love.
After a few minutes the wife yelled "BELL 4!" "What the hell is BELL4?" asked the husband?
"ROLL OUT MORE HOSE," she replied. "YOU'RE NOWHERE NEAR THE FIRE."
An old married couple was at home watching TV. The husband had the remote and was switching back and forth between a fishing channel and the porn channel.
The wife became more and more annoyed and finally said:
"For goodness sake! Leave it on the porn channel. You already know how to fish!"

Mackay Group run to Midge Point 25/03/18
What a day, liquid
sunshine all over the
place. But 3 old box
cars braved the
weather and the
Bishops, Denneys and Masons headed off for a lunch date at Midge Point.
It was wet all the way so no sight-seeing or stopping for a chat etc, still raining at Midge
Point so we assumed our seats and prepared for a nice indoor lunch. We were joined at the
Tavern just before eating by Brad and Christine and still the rain tumbled down. We had a
pleasant lunch and a nice round table chat before biting the bullet and heading back down the
very wet Bruce Highway.
The rain came
down even
heavier on the
run home and
we found
ourselves aqua-planeing more than once even though we were
travelling below the speed limit.
But that’s not all folks. All of the way home, the XW
was missing and carrying on but it was too wet to get
out and check, just struggled home, found out later that
Bish’s XY was doing the same thing, looks like we got
a bad load of fuel, which is good because we know
what the problem is but bad because now we’ve got to
drain all our liquid gold. We separated to go our
different directions home and the Denneys found
themselves stuck in the right turn lane onto the Bruce
with a dead engine, I wish we could have seen the 2 drowned rats pushing the old blue bus
back over to the side of the road, but if we’d been there, we would have been drowned rats
too! Luckily an RACQ guy happened by and got them going again and they dribbled off
home, turned out to be a faulty alternator.
Thus, ends our adventure to Midge Point.

"Sure," said the young boy, confidently. "It means carrying a child."
