Chabad naples jewish centerChabad Naples Jewish Community Center is bursting with energy and enthusiasm - our expanded Synagogue, award-winning Preschool of the Arts, banquet hall, new outdoor playground and Hebrew school classrooms are all full of activity. It first opened in 2003 out of Rabbi and Mrs. Zaklos’ rented home on Parkshore Dr. In 2011, after much work and investment, we moved to our new location on Mandarin Rd. and opened our doors along with the highly successful Preschool of the Arts.

Teen programming, business networking, adult education, seasonal events, and most importantly the Preschool, are demanding more space and facilities than the new Center, now called the Carol and Alex Glassman Chabad Jewish Community Center, currently has available.

On January 15, 2012, Florida’s Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott joined with the crowd of more than 1,000 in celebrating the Grand Opening of the new Chabad of Naples Community Center.

Preschool of the artsPreschool of the Arts is an innovative and thriving preschool which provides a rich and joyous learning environment, empowering children to take intellectual risks while they explore the wonder of our Jewish and American heritages.

Our classrooms are designed to facilitate center-based learning; centers include dramatic play, art, building, science and discovery, writing, and a sensory stimulation. Rooms include cozy lofts that serve as oases for small group activities and dramatic play and well as quiet areas.

Children learn science, math, social studies, literacy, the arts, Judaic studies and moral values through an integrated approach to education. Our goal is to nurture each child’s personal journey towards social, emotional and educational

growth. Shabbat and Jewish holidays are a major theme of the preschool experience. The children bake challah, learn traditional Shabbat songs, and discover their Jewish heritage through a hands-on exploration of the various holidays in their native season. We also touch on the beginnings of Hebrew reading (the Aleph-Beit) and prayer.

Following our very first year of existence, Preschool of the Arts was awarded the champion in Child Care Services of the 2012 Southwest Florida Reader’s Choice Awards. We have continued to win this award in each subsequent year. These accolades have created a tremendous amount of publicity, awareness of, and interest in the school. Preschool of the Arts is at the ”top of its class” in Collier County and beyond.

“Preschool of the Arts is a gift, one for which our family will be eternally thankful. For three years, Preschool of the Arts, our second family, has granted us many gifts: an unparalleled educa-

tion, an immense sense of security, gentle guidance and friendship, love, laughter and so much more. With honor, we have watched Preschool of the Arts grow from a small, first-year school, to a thriving three-time Southwest Florida Choice Award winner! We could not be more proud to be a part of and support the most deserving and influential group of educators and staff.”

“We knew immediately that we wanted our family to be part of this preschool by con-tributing and enrolling our son as one of the school’s first students. Both of our par-

ents have strong ties to education and philan-thropy and we saw this as a way to honor them as well as contribute to our community. Ettie Zaklos has done an amazing job develop-ing, implementing and growing the Preschool of the Arts. The special touches Ettie has add-ed made for an unforgettable time for our son.”

Subjects that are covered included Hebrew reading (Kriah), Torah, Holidays, Jewish values, Israel, Prayer (Tefilah), Mitzvot, and Jewish History.

Our Hebrew School uses the new, acclaimed Aleph Champ program to ensure that your child will read fluently at the end of his/her Hebrew School experience.

10th anniversary celebrationOn February 14, 2014 the community celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Chabad Jewish Center of Naples and the third anniversary of the Preschool of the Arts. Honored were Carol Glassman,Benefactor Award recipient; and Liddy and Daniel Sexton, Preschool Tribute recipients, for their commitment and generosity.

That night’s theme was “A Historic Evening”, and it was truly historic. It was the first time we had the opportunity and pleasure to welcome a guest like Mrs. Eva Schloss, stepsister of Anne Frank, to tell her story; it was a great honor for the Chabad of Naples to have sponsored her appearance and talk.

That night Chabad made even more history. Inspired by all the activity she saw firsthand, and wanting to do something that would lend added vitality to the ongoing educational programs that she and Alex held so dear (and to help cover its operational costs), Carol opted to accelerate a substantial portion of the planned giving-bequest to Chabad Naples that they had discussed over the years. In her own words: “The future is now… and the best is yet to come!”

In recognition of Carol’s magnanimous and timely gift, we proudly announced – before the esteemed assembly of friends and patrons – that we are hereby eternally dedicating our organization as the “Alex and Carol Glassman Chabad Naples Jewish Community Center!!!”

Our Sages teach us that the building of a woman’s Mikvah is even more vital to the spiritual continuity of the Jewish people than the building of a synagogue. Indeed, Torah scrolls can be sold to fulfill this Mitzvah.

“”If you are seeking a place of meaning, warmth and joy, please come to the Chabad Naples …you will be met with kindness, you will feel contentment, and

your heart will be touched. The only thing more wonderful than being able to support oneself financially ~ is to be blessed to help support Chabad Naples. Sometimes I am so happy to be able to write this check that I want to SING!”

Marcy Babcox

“How fortunate we are to know Rabbi Fishel and Ettie and to be able to support Chabad of Naples. We’ve met so many wonderful friends and learned so much

about our history and heritage. The sermons are always insightful and inspiring, and the Shabbos lunch is absolutely delicious. The day school is a virtual treasure trove for the young children.”
