GENERAL OVERVIEWMoreton Bay Boys’ College believes in a balanced educational experience for all students. All boys are encouraged to participate in the co-curricular programme which provides opportunities in a wide range of activities that include sporting, cultural, social and personal pursuits. Through these activities, each student has the opportunity to develop their potential - socially, physically, spiritually and culturally. Excellent facilities and highly accredited instructors contribute to the outstanding experiences on offer.

ARTS, MUSIC AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIESWithin the Arts, Music and Cultural Programme, the following activities are offered: Debating, Public Speaking, a variety of music groups (classical and contemporary), drama productions and musicals.

If you require any further information on the music programme, please contact Ms Kelly Leaver, Music Administration Assistant, on [email protected] and for any questions on debating and public speaking, please contact the coordinator, Mrs Naomi Williams on [email protected].

SPORTING ACTIVITIESMBBC is a member of the Christian Schools Sports Association Queensland and through this association opportunities are provided for students to compete at an interschool level. Students also compete against other teams in a variety of sports through a club-based sports programme. MBBC is a member of the Metropolitan East District Schools Association, which provides opportunities for students to be selected in Regional and State teams for some sports.

MBBC participates in an extensive range of club sports. The extended season for club sport, as opposed to interschool sports, gives students greater opportunity to develop skills throughout a season. Currently club sports include, basketball, cricket, football(soccer), tennis, touch and volleyball.

In addition to these offerings, there is also the opportunity to engage in private tuition for selected sports. If you require further information about this, or indeed any of the sports mentioned in this booklet, please contact our Assistant Director of Sport, Cerene Hughes [email protected].

TOURSThe Tours Programme at MBBC enables students to experience a cultural exchange through international travel or the hosting of a student from overseas. The benefits of participation in this programme are many, including broadening students’ consideration and understanding of others, personally and culturally, and the development of tolerance and resilience in meeting the challenges of a new situation.

CLUBS AND GROUPSThere are a range of co-curricular clubs and groups in areas such as academic extension, service, art, and drama. These provide opportunities for students to engage with students across other year levels in a variety of areas.

In all other circumstances, students are required to arrive and depart in their full uniform.

Students must observe a high standard of personal behaviour and dress at all times.

PRIVATE TUITION PROGRAMMEIn addition to the extensive co-curricular programme, students at MBBC may also participate in private tuition which presents them with further opportunities to develop their skills and expertise in the cultural and sporting arenas.
