1.0 SCOPE

Material type, composition, cross-sectional shapes and inspection methods for producing standard range of

CoilThread inserts.

2.0 MATERIAL –

Cold formed diamond profile wire as per SAE AS7245

2.1. Appearance:

2.1.1. Two samples to be taken from each coil.

2.1.2. Surface to be examined using a binocular microscope.

2.1.3. No surface defects permitted visible to the naked eye.

2.1.4. Arithmetical mean roughness (Ra) to be better than 0.8m.

2.2. Cold bending test: At room temperature wind the wire through 180 degrees around a diameter equal to

twice the wire diameter. Examine the surface of the wire, no cracks or defects are permitted.

2.3. Standard coil weight: Must not exceed 60Kgs including spool.

2.4. Coil wrapping: Wrap with paper tape to prevent damage.

2.5. Cross-sectional dimensions:
