    keeps a aaloon on tbe road leading to Highland Statiou shot and ptobably fatally wounded Patrick OMalley yesterday afternoon about 4 oclock.

    As soon as the shooting occurred a telegram was sent to tbis place askiu that a doctor and a constable come to the Highland Station at once. Dr. J. M. Winslow and Polico Officer McCaffrey answered tbe call and it was late last nigbt when they returned.

    It seems that OMalley, whose home is at Bcranton, Pa., had been working on tbe new Mate road was laid off yes terday morning and proceeded to get drunk. Be called at MoMaboua saloon and was refused a drink. OMalley tben picked up an ax and commenced to demolish tbe place by breaking windows, chairs, bar, etc, Mrs. McMahon ran from tbe bouse, at the same time grabbing a pistol. She started for Highland Station to inform ber husband, who works in tbe chemical factory, of tbe trouble at the bouse. OMalley followed and threatened to kill ber, she fired a shot, the ball struck bim 00 tbs chin breaking tbe jsw bone. Dr. Winslow dressed tbe wounds snd made bim ss comfortably ss possible for tbe nigbt.     Minutes of previous meeting read and approved.

    Alter tbe meeting was called to order the subject of introducing water into tbe school building occupied the attention of tbe board. - Tbe contract was awarded to F. M. Camp at $79.69.

    At tbe suggestion of Principal Montrose, wbo stated tbat a number of scholars were unable to purchase books, tbe money in the indigent popil fund, smonnting to $17, was ordered to be expended for that purpose, tha books purchased to remain the property of the school.

    Clerk Cssey reported tbe oollection.of $11 for tuition fees.

    Tbe following bills were audited and ordered paid: O. J. Baxter, $216.51; Edward Austin, fci.25.

    Tbe Principals report was presented snd ordered placed on file.

    Captain Metcalfe, chairman of the library committee, to whom tbe work of revising tbe rules and by-laws of tbe school had been referred, said tbat tbe committee bad finished their work and presented tbe report. Tbe rules sud by-laws were adopted s i read.

Henry Metcalfe will undoubtedly regret very muob thst tbey will be incompetent to cross tbe river on election day and vote early and often for tbis genial retired officer in his race for Congress.     Cupids Happy Conquest. One of tbe prettiest borne weddings

    that have ever occurred in Nelsonville was tbat which took place Tuesday afternoon at 3 oclock at the borne of Mrs. Julia Denney. Go that occasion Rev. F. W. Overbiser, s former pastor of tbe Baptiat church, was tbe officiating clergyman aud the contracting parties were Miss Grace O. Denney, daughter of Mrs. Denney, and Mr. William M. Fort of Chittenatigo, N. Y.

    Tbe ceremony was witnessed by about one hundred guests.

    The bride was elegantly dreesed in a gown of white brocaded satin, en train, a bridal veil caught up at ber hair witb ber engagement rii.-g, and graced with a wreath. She carried a bouquet of wbite chrysanthemums. Miss Carrie Pierson, of Brooklyn, was maid of honor snd wore a white organdie over wbite satin. Tbe bridesmxids were tbe Misses De Lancey, of Newburgh, classmates of tbe bride, and were handsomely gowned iu white organdie over yellow taffeta. The nabers were Jfr. A. A. Dodd* and Mr. Edward Roberta. The grt-oms best msn was Mr. Charles Mo-Bride.

    Tbe floral decorations were elaborate and rerj tasteful, especially tbe archway where the ceremony was performed. The predominant color of dresses aud decorations, yellow snd white, were tbe class colors of the bridsl party at tbe Albany State Normal School.

    After enjoying a delicious wedding repast Mr. and Mrs. Fort departed on

    an afternoon train on an extended wedding tour and npon their return will mske their h?me at Chilteusngo, where Mr. Fort is principal of tbe bigb school.
