Second collection announced for those affected
by Hurricane Matthew. November 13, 2016. As we continue to
recover and assist people in our own Diocese from the
destruction caused by Hurricane Matthew, we are
mindful of the people of Haiti and areas of our
country which were devastated by this hurricane. To
assist in these efforts, the USCCB has asked that each
diocese take up a collection.
These funds will be used to support the efforts of
Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA
as they reach out to provide humanitarian aid in the
form of water, food, shelter, and medical care, as well
as to their long term efforts to restore communities after
widespread destruction,
and to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for the
pastoral and
reconstruction needs of the Church in the Caribbean and the
US.
In the Diocese of Savannah, the collection will occur on the
weekend of November
12-13, or another weekend as determined by the pastor. Second
collection in Saint
Joseph Catholic Church in Bainbridge it will be on November
13th.
Solemnity of All Saints...
The men and women whom we honor today and whose names we bear
are
more than just photographs in our
church’s family photo album. They are
companions to us, walking with us and
rooting for us and encouraging us and
cheering us on so that we can, one
day, join them in the heavenly
kingdom which they now enjoy.
At the same time, it is good for us to remember... that not all
saints have
halos and... not all angels have wings. We are all called to be
saints.

A medida que nos recuperamos y ayudamos
