HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS

ADVISINGADVISING FOR COLLEGE SLCC has 6 individuals assigned to high schools throughout the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys who provide information, resources, and support to students and counselors. These inviduals offer one-on-one college advising for CE students, student information session presentations, and other resources. To schedule an advising session for your students, a live presentation at your school, or to contact your assigned SLCC Representative, visit the concurrent enrollment website at the link on this page and click on the “Advising” button. DEADLINES

IMPORTANT CE DATES College deadlines are much less forgiving than high school deadlines. Students who miss important registration deadlines will be unable to participate in the class. It has been said that completing your admissions, registration, and submitting test scores by the deadline is your first collegetest. To review CE deadlines visit the concurrent enrollment website at the link on this page and click on the “Calendar/Deadlines” button.

MYCESEE WHAT YOUR STUDENTS ARE DOING THROUGH MYCE If you have any students who are taking a lot of concurrent enrollment classes or are working toward their One-Year General Education Certificate of Completion or AS degree, you can track their progress in your SLCC MyCE account. Your MyCE account allows you to:

1. Look up a student’s SLCC student number.

2. See which classes the student has completed or has registered for, both at your high school and on a SLCC campus.

3. If they have created one, view their academic plan, and collaborate with the SLCC Representative assigned to your school to help them make choices that don’t impact high school graduation.

4. Pull reports on CE student credit loads.

MyCE is a completely customized system, so if there are additional features you would like to see added just contact the Concurrent Enrollment Office.

To access your MyCE account contact the CE Office at the number listed on this page.

COURSE RULESKNOW THE RULES Every concurrent enrollment course has rules regarding who can participate and who cannot. Some courses are limited to seniors only, some allow non-concurrent students to sit in the class, some have pre-requisites and required test scores. To find out the rules on specific courses visit the concurrent enrollment website at the link on this page, click on the “High School Partners” button and then in the left hand navigation click on “Course Offerings/Instructor Requirements”.

PATHWAYSMATH & OTHER COURSES Taking too many of the wrong college classes could end up impacting a students federal financial aid eligibility and cause other problems down the road. SLCC strongly recommends placing students only in courses in their area of interest, and general education courses listed on the General Education Certificate of Completion document. There are several resources on the SLCC Concurrent Enrollment website. To access these visit the CE website at the link on this page, click on the “High School Partners” button and then in the left hand navigation click on “Counselor Resources”. Your SLCC Representative is also an excellent resource for questions regarding the best courses for students.
