Is Nursing for Me?
Why study Nursing at EWU
A nursing career is typically very gratifying and rewarding in terms of the joys it brings. Being a nurse can be an exciting career option for both men and women. This field has a lot to offer. It allows you the opportunity to help bring a new baby into the world, cheer, and comfort those in need, both young and old as well as save people’s lives. If you enjoy being a nurse, and you’re good at it you’ll always be in demand and have many job opportunities from which you can choose.
EWU offers a pre-nursing program, with most students applying to WSU’s nursing program in downtown Spokane. EWU currently has a consortium agreement with WSU which enables our students to complete their undergraduate degree requirements along with their nursing prerequisites courses at EWU and then apply to WSU College of Nursing to finish their BSN degree. Not all eligible students from EWU will be admitted to the BSN program at WSU. It is a highly competitive program , successful aplicants work closely with the Pre- Nursing Program Coordinator.
Career OpertunitiesUpon completing the BSN program at WSU, students are eligible to take the NCLEX exam and become licensed RN’s. Once licensed, Nurses work in a variety of settings including hospitals, medical clinics, home care facilities, insurance companies, schools the military, international health organizations, etc.
