Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of HKBU, offering full-time Associate Degree Programme (AD) and Undergraduate Programmes (UG) at both the HKBU Kowloon Tong and Shek Mun (Shatin) campuses. The CIE, managed by the School of Continuing Education (SCE), currently enrols over 4,000 students and is committed to the University’s mission of providing quality whole person higher education with a Christian heritage.

QUALITY ASSURANCE 學術素質保證

Quality assurance is an integral part of the CIE in all areas of teaching and learning.

It is a collective and continuous process to ensure that academic and professional

standards are met in its programmes for the benefit of all stakeholders including

students, parents, teachers, as well as employers in the community.

HKBU’s student-centred approach in teaching and learning and student development of

its sub-degree programmes, as well as staff’s caring attitude towards students and the

high standard of teaching and learning support facilities, were commended in the Report of a Quality Audit of Sub-degree Operations of Hong Kong Baptist University released

by the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Committee in October 2018.

The Report also commended CIE in the planning, implementation and monitoring

of the adoption of Outcomes-Based Teaching and Learning and Criterion-Referenced

Assessment in the Associate Degree Programme. The wide spectrum of co-curricular

activities arranged for sub-degree students is recognised as valuable learning experience

by the Audit Panel. The engagement of both internal and external advisors is also

deemed to have enabled international benchmarking, engendering a broad culture of

quality.

CIE as a self-funded unit of HKBU offers a 2-year Associate Degree Programme which

is equivalent to the first two years of a 4-year degree programme; and final two years of

Self-funded Undergraduate Programmes for sub-degree graduates in collaboration with

different HKBU Faculties/Schools.

CIE AD Programme is governed by the HKBU quality assurance policies and practices.

Upon completion of the AD Programme, students will be awarded an Associate of Arts

or an Associate of Science by HKBU.

The College places great emphasis on providing different articulation opportunities for

students. Students can take the "2+2" study mode and earn a Bachelor's degree in

4 years. CIE offers 29 Concentration Studies across the 5 major disciplines of Applied

Science, Arts and Languages, Business, Communication, and Social Sciences. The

wide range of choices in our curriculum and flexibility in choosing elective courses

cater to different interests, talents and aspirations of our students. Small class

NEW CONCENTRATION STUDIES OF ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN 2019/20 2019/20 學年全新副學士專修

There has been an increasing demand for health professionals in Hong Kong in

connection with the aging population. A professionally trained workforce is important

to sustain the development of homecare and community health services in meeting the

needs of the elderly.

This area of Concentration Studies aims to equip students with a broad spectrum

of health sciences knowledge in relation to public health, health education, health

psychology, diseases prevention and nutrition knowledge. There will be opportunities

for internships in community NGOs and hospitals where students will learn essential

skills to work as health professionals. Graduates can further their study or pursue a

career in health sciences, gerontology, nutrition, biological science or related fields.

面對香港人口老化現象，社會對具備專業健康護理知識專才的需求日趨殷切。受過專業培訓的從業員有助持續推動家庭護理和社區健康服務行業的發展，以滿足居家安老的龐大需求。

demand for professionals who are equipped with financial and information technology

knowledge.

This area of Concentration Studies aims to provide students with information

technology skills and financial knowledge including e-payment, blockchain and

cryptocurrency. Graduates with a solid background in both fields can further their

studies in a variety of degree programmes such as financial technology, information

systems, computer science and e-Business management which can lead to a career in

various fields, such as becoming a junior FinTech project developer, FinTech startup

software/data engineer, research analyst or information technology professional.

This area of Concentration Studies is a new and improved English Programme which

encompasses both the practical use of professional communication in English

alongside the strengthening of creativity.

Students will develop transferable professional communication skills enabling them

to not only sharpen their English language skills, communicate confidently in public-

speaking contexts but they will also immerse in English Studies which will develop

their critical faculties, ingenuity as well as acumen. This gives our graduates an

The “2+2” Seamless Articulation represents the 2-year HKBU Associate Degree Programme (AD) and

the 2-year HKBU Self-funded Undergraduate Programme (UG). HKBU AD graduates could articulate to

UG Programmes with all programme pre-requisites exempted, and obtain an HKBU bachelor honours

degree in 4 years. DSE students with “22222” (including Chinese and English) or above are eligible for

AD application.

granted by the eight local universities in 4 years, equivalent to the study period required by the JUPAS

HKBU ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAMME 浸大副學士課程特色

The four-year HKBU Undergraduate Programme normally requires students to complete a total of 128 units. The HKBU AD

Programme is a 62-unit programme which requires two years of full-time studies. The curriculum is equivalent to the first two years of

an undergraduate programme.

After completing the AD Programme, students are eligible to take the “2+2” study path articulation to the last two years of a UG Programme. There are currently 11 UG Honours Degree Programmes (please refer to P.13) jointly run by HKBU Faculties/Schools and CIE. Under the same quality assurance mechanism, HKBU AD graduates could articulate to UG Programmes seamlessly without taking any programme pre-requisites.

四年制浸大學士學位課程一般要求同學修讀128個學分。修讀浸大副學士課程的同學一般於兩年內共需修讀62個學分。課程等同大學 本科課程第一及第二年級。

The Core Courses and Required Courses (17 units) focus on training students’ English and Chinese communication skills, helping

• Interdisciplinary Learning 跨學科學習

The General Education Courses (15 units) focus on interdisciplinary learning. Students will acquire necessary skills such as

divergent thinking and problem-solving skills for the 21st century. 通識科目（15學分）著重跨學科研習，培育同學二十一世紀所需的學習技能，開拓多元視角與訓練解難能力。

• Flexible Curriculum and Wide Range of Elective Courses 選修科目靈活組合

The Free Electives Courses (6 units) in the Generic Content and Elective Studies Courses (9 units) in the Discipline Specific

Content cover a diversified range of disciplines such as Applied Science, Arts and Languages, Business, Communication, and Social

Sciences. The flexibility of options in the curriculum enables students to choose their favourite combination of elective courses to

suit their own interests, learning needs and career aspirations*. 通用內容中的自由選修科目（6學分）及專門內容中的選修科目（9學分）涵蓋應用科學、人文及語言學、商學、傳理學及社會科學五大專業範疇。同學可按興趣、升學需要、就業方向靈活組合科目，為將來升學就業締造更廣泛的出路*。

• Empowering Students with Professional Knowledge 學習專業知識 The Concentration Studies Courses (15 units) emphasise on teaching discipline-specific knowledge and aim at equipping students

with a solid academic foundation. Through a broad array of experiential learning activities, students can apply what they have

learned in the class so as to master the professional knowledge. 專修科目（15學分）教授專業內容，奠定同學堅實的學術基礎。通過體驗式學習活動，實踐課堂所學，有效掌握專業知識。

HKBU SELF-FUNDED UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 浸大自資學士學位課程特色

Ever since 2005, CIE has been collaborating with different Faculties/Schools of HKBU in providing degree articulation opportunities

for our AD graduates. Today, CIE is successfully running 11 UG programmes in close partnership with several Faculties/Schools of

HKBU. CIE has adopted HKBU’s four-year UGC-funded Undergraduate Programme as the blueprint for its curriculum framework. The

curriculum of UG Programmes is equivalent to the final two years of the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes in HKBU, which focuses on

Discipline Specific Courses.

Students with CIE AD qualification will normally be admitted into the third year of UG Programme to complete the 66-unit programme

in two years. Upon successful completion of the UG Programme, students will be awarded an HKBU Honours Degree.

In CIE, student’s early professional development is achieved by careful and integrative guidance tailored to meet their needs to help

students embark on their journey of career planning. We provide individual advising and organise activities such as articulation talks,

personal statement writing and interview skills workshops. Dialogue between students and professionals are encouraged through

opportunities arranged such as corporate recruitment talks, vocational planning seminars and job hunting trainings.

學院鼓勵同學及早計劃專業生涯發展，並因應每位同學的特質提供精心和多樣化的升學就業輔導。學院除了提供個人諮詢服務， 更定期舉辦升學講座、撰寫「個人自述」和面試技巧工作坊等，協助同學在生涯發展上作出合適的選擇和準備。同時亦透過企業 招聘講座、就業出路座談會和求職技巧工作坊，讓同學與專業人士交流，規劃將來的事業路向。

Leadership trainings aim at enhancing the self-confidence, responsibility and team work in student leaders. It is a very rewarding

experience in developing their competencies through a variety of training activities and giving them opportunities to serve as College

representatives to further enhance their leadership qualities.

CIE actively promotes “Service Learning” activities through partnerships with different organisations. Students are encouraged to both

dedicate themselves in academic learning, as well as nurture a mindset ready to serve others and apply what they have learned to

care for the community. Our students have been participating in services like tutoring junior students, as well as visiting the elderly,

the visually-impaired and single parent families. Through participating in, and organising social service activities, students strengthen

their sense of responsibility as a social citizen and achieve their own personal growth.

國際學院一直積極推行「服務學習」活動，並與不同機構合作推展服務，鼓勵同學專注學習之外，亦能學以致用，同時關心社會的 需要，培養服務他人的精神。同學曾為學童、長者、視障人士、單親家庭等對象提供服務，透過切身處地參與及策劃社區服務， 以強化身為社會公民的責任感，促進個人發展。

Scholarship 獎學金

In 2017/18, more than 600 AD and UG students were awarded scholarships with a

total of over HK$6.7 million offered by CIE and the HKSAR Government.

CIE provides various types of scholarships and additional monetary assistance to

encourage students to excel in their studies and develop their talents. They include

Entrance Scholarship, Academic Achievement, Special Talent and Service, and Financial Aid.

The Government has set up the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme,

Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students, and Scheme for Subsidy

on Exchange to ‘Belt and Road’ Regions for Post-secondary Students, which recognises

students’ academic achievement, special talents, and encourages them to participate

in overseas exchange activities.

於2017/18學年，國際學院及香港特區政府共頒發總值超過港幣670萬元的獎助學金予600多名副學士和自資學士同學。

為鼓勵同學爭取更佳成績、發展才能，學院設立多項獎助學金。獎項類別包括： 入學獎學金、學術成就、特殊才能及服務，以及資助計畫。

Students can apply for the Government’s Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary

Students, Non-means-tested Loan Scheme for Post-secondary Students and Continuing

Education Fund according to their own needs.
