Basic Color


The basic color wheel contain ;

Primary colors

Red, yellow, and blue.


Color wheel ;

Secondary colors


Color wheel;

Intermediate colors;

An intermediate color is formed when a primary color is mixed with an adjacent secondary color


Warm and cold colors;


Hue & value & intensity;

Hue/ color, is the term for the pure colors commonly referred to by the "color names" - red, orange, yellow, blue, green violet - which appear in the hue wheel



Value is defined as the relative lightness or darkness of a color.



Intensity is the strength or concentration of a color.


Tint & tone & shade;

tint;

A tint is a mixing result of an original color to which has been added white.

If you tinted a color, you've been adding white to the original color.

A tint is lighter than the original color.



Shade;

A shade is a mixing result of an original color to which has been added black.

If you shaded a color, you've been adding black to the original color.

A shade is darker than the original color.



Tone;A tone is produced either by mixing with gray, or by both tinting and shading

Color schemes;


Monochromatic;

Mono means one and refers to the tints, tones, and shades of one color. Monochromatic colors are all the colors (tints, tones, and shades) of a single hue.


Analogous;

Often referred to as adjacent. Two, three, or four hues that lie next to one another on the color wheel. Possible colors (Can include tints, tones & shades) Yellow-green, yellow, yellow-orange, orange


Complementary;

Combining two colors from the opposite side of the color wheel. Possible colors: red & green, blue & orange


Triad;

Three colors equally spaced on the color wheel Possible colors: tints, tones and shades of primary or secondary colors


Neutral;

Neutral colors don't usually show up on the color wheel. Neutral colors include black, white, gray, and sometimes brown and beige. They are sometimes called “earth tones.”


Accented neutral;

One color is added to other neutrals to form a scheme. Possible colors: black, white & red, browns with light blue


Pastel colors;

Pastel refers to any color with a particularly lighter shade
