END THE MADNESS: The Dodgers tonight wrap up their
six-game homestand (2-3) with the second contest of a two-
game series with the first-place Colorado Rockies. Los
Angeles has lost three consecutive games for the first time
since dropping three straight from Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2016, the
final three contests of last season. Tomorrow night, the
Dodgers fly to Phoenix and begin a weekend series with the
Diamondbacks Friday. Following their stay in the desert, the club
heads to San Francisco, for three games against the San Francisco
Giants Monday-Thursday next week at AT&T Park.
Los Angeles won the 2016 season series against
Colorado, 12-7, including an 8-2 mark at Dodger
Stadium. Last night, the Rockies snapped a seven-game
losing streak at Chavez Ravine.
THOMAS CHARLES: The first 40,000 fans at tonight’s game
will receive a special collector’s coin commemorating Dodger
manager Tommy Lasorda’s induction into the National Baseball
Hall of Fame in 1997. Lasorda skippered the Dodgers from 1976-
1996 and won two World Series titles (1981, ’88) while at the
helm. The promotion is the first in a series of eight coins,
depicting “great Dodger moments,” and is presented by 76.
Tonight is also USC Night, in which fans who purchased
a sold-out ticket package received a special USC branded
Dodger hat. For those that missed out on USC night,
there is still time to secure your spot for a “theme night”
on the next homestand as UCLA Night (April 28),
Teacher Appreciation Night (May 1) and Military
Appreciation Night (May 2) are all coming soon. To
purchase tickets to these games, visit
dodgers.com/events.
USC head football coach Clay Helton will throw the
ceremonial first pitch this evening.
SIMPLY THE BEST: Congratulations are in order for Senior
Vice President, Planning and Development Janet Marie Smith,
who is being honored today by the Sports Business Journal at the
16th annual World Congress of Sports in Dana Point. Smith is
being honored as part of the “Champions: Pioneers and
Innovators in Sports Business” panel discussion.
ROOKIE NO MORE: Dodger shortstop Corey Seager needs
an RBI tonight to become just the sixth National League player
since 1920 to amass at least 200 hits, 100 runs, 100 RBI, 50
doubles and 30 home runs through 200 career games:

A LOOK BACK: On this date in 1890, the Dodgers (then known
as the Bridegrooms) played their first National League game at
Washington Park, losing, 15-9, to the Boston Braves.
On this date in 1956, Dodger Hall of Fame catcher Roy
Campanella collected career hit No. 1,000 in a game at
New Jersey’s Roosevelt Field.
TURN’D UP: Justin Turner went 1-for-4 with an RBI last night,
giving him a .360/.448/.520 slashline through the first two weeks
of the season. Turner’s eight doubles lead the National League and
rank second in the Majors, trailing only Boston’s Mitch Moreland
(10). The Southern California native has a six-game hitting streak
overall and an 11-game hitting streak at Dodger Stadium.
Turner has posted a .372/.452/.549 slashline in 58 career
games against Colorado, his highest marks against any
NL opponent (61-for-164, 20 2B, 3 HR, 31 RBI).
Overall, Adrián González’s 134 RBI in 170 games rank
as the fourth most all-time against the Rockies franchise,
behind only Barry Bonds (141), Matt Kemp (140) and
Luis Gonzalez (139).
THE ACE: Clayton Kershaw will take the mound for his fourth
start of the season tonight, and in his career has gone 18-6 with a
3.17 ERA (73 ER/207.1 IP) in 33 career starts against the Rockies,
including 10-2 with a 1.46 ERA (16 ER/98.1 IP) vs. Colorado at
Dodger Stadium.
In his last 10 starts at home since May 1, 2016, Kershaw
is 9-0 with a 0.47 ERA (4 ER/76.1 IP), while holding
hitters to a .130 average and striking out 86 against just
five walks.
STRONG ENOUGH: The Dodger bullpen fired 3.0 scoreless,
hitless innings last night, allowing just one baserunner and
striking out five. The Dodger ‘pen has been one of the best in
baseball during the early part of the season and the L.A. relievers
rank among the NL leaders in in ERA (1.38, 1st), opponents’
batting average (.170, 1st, MLB), WHIP (0.86, 1st, MLB),
strikeouts (64, 2nd), opponents’ OBP (.224, 1st, MLB), opponents’
slugging percentage (.239, 1st, MLB), walks per nine innings
(2.24, 1st, MLB) and fielding independent pitching (1.41, 1st,
MLB). The bullpen has also posted a Major League-best 4.92
strikeout-to-walk ratio while allowing just one home run.
The Dodger staff overall has posted a National League-
best 2.94 ERA (43 ER/131.2 IP, 2nd MLB) and a 1.08
WHIP. Los Angeles has also held hitters to a .215 average
(2nd, NL), while posting a NL leading 3.69 strikeout-to-
walk ratio, striking out 144 batters against just 39 walks.
GET LUCKY: The Los Angeles Dodgers yesterday unveiled a
new 5-Game Weekend Mini Plan that allows fans to pick from
any of the team’s weekend home games. As an added bonus,
those who prove to be the Dodgers’ “good luck charm,” and select
only L.A. wins for their 5-Game Weekend Plan will receive two
tickets to Fan Appreciation Day, Sept. 24 vs. San Francisco, a t-
shirt and an invitation to join a pre-game group photo on the field.
The Weekend Plan also allows fans to choose from several of the
team’s most popular promotional giveaways and special event
