Principal
Welcome back to Term Two. I hope that you all had a lovely break and happy Easter , filled with lots of chocolate! We are ready for an exciting term ahead full of amazing teaching and learning programs, excursions, Education Week and other special events. I would like to welcome Vanessa Smith to the school. She has made an amazing contribution to the school in Term One as a Casual Relief Teacher. She will be working in 3G alongside Caitlin Pappin as a result of Sam George working in an Acting Leading Teacher role. Barry Parkinson will be working as an Acting Assistant Principal and I will be the Acting Principal as Kim Laffan is away for the term. I look forward to this new role and I know I have incredibly large shoes to fill. I would also like to congratulate Simone Parkes (Brown) who got married on the school holidays! Today we held an ANZAC Day Service around our school flagpole and paid our respects to the many brave service, men and women who gave their lives for this nation. Our thoughts are also with those serving in our Defence Force today and particularly those on active duty. Friday the 26
th of April will be a Curriculum Day, students do not attend
school on this day. While the students are spending a day away from school, it will be the teachers turn to focus on their learning. I hope they show their 5L’s and do their homework! We will predominantly be focusing on how we are teaching writing and problem solving. We have also moved the assembly from next week until Week 3 (Friday 10
th of May), due to the
Cross Country and a Professional Development session, which will see many of our teachers doing some further learning. Assemblies for this term will be on odd weeks, Week 5 (24
th May), Week 7
(7th June) and Week 9 (21
st June).
I am looking forward to the term ahead at our amazing school and thank you in anticipation of your support. Acting Principal

ANZAC DAY SERVICE
Our students participated in a lovely service to our ANZACS today. Thank you to our student leaders
for their wonderful contributions.
Mother’s Day Stall 2019 will be on Thursday 9th
& Friday 10th
We will announce which classes will be on each day closer to the date. We have opted for 2 days, so kids have enough time now that we are at 25 classes
Helpful tips to make your child’s Mother’s Day stall shopping experience easy.
*Please put your child’s money in an envelope or snap lock bag with their name, class & amount
enclosed. Ask them to hand it to their teacher 1st thing in the morning, to avoid it getting misplaced before they go to the stall.
*Please bring a reusable bag with their name on it to put their gifts in.
They can buy 3 gifts when they come in with their class. Then at the end of their visit all kids with
money left over can buy more before they go back to class!! Gifts are priced from $1:00 to $6:00
There will be a raffle table. Tickets are $1:00 each and a max 5 raffle tickets per student.
Don’t miss out on the chance to win a wonderful prize.
We encourage children to purchase at least one gift before buying any raffle tickets.
*KPS Mother’s Day Raffle Donations Suggestions*
If families would like to donate to help make up the prizes for this year’s raffle that would be excellent. Any donations can be left at the front office in the donation box.
Suggested items for donations include:
Toiletries e.g. soaps, shower gel, hand and body cream, frames, books / recipe books, kitchen utensils, chocolate, vouchers, candle, candle holders, baskets for the hampers.
.
Thank you again for your support.
We will be asking for helpers’ early Term 2 via our FB page and newsletter
