McCall Elementary PTA 6601 Cloverhaven Way, Plano, Tx
PTA President’s Message by Karen Buitrango
Welcome Back! by Kari Yeamans
As the school year
begins, I want to wish
you a very successful
year with your child
both academically
and personally. The
McCall PTA is here to
support your child in
reaching their full
potential and giving
great memories of
their primary years.
This year the PTA is
calling all of us to
“Back the Future”-
Successful students
are everyone’s
business, and
successful schools
build successful
communities. And we
know there is no
commYOUnity
without YOU, so to
speak – “YOU” being
parents, teachers, our
members, our future
members, and
community leaders.
McCall PTA is inviting
not only families,
teachers and
students, but
community members
to “Back the Future”
by becoming a PTA
member, and getting
involved in the 2014-
2015 school year. I
hope you will find the
newsletter very
informative and
helpful.

Painless Fundraising by Amanda Parker
At McCall, we rely on
painless fundraisers for
needed money
(mainly for field trips)
and supplies. What
are painless
fundraisers? Painless
fundraisers are found
on products or items
you already purchase
or have. Painless
fundraiser items can
be turned into your
child's teacher
everyday of the
school year. Please
include your child's
name, teacher, and
grade on the baggie,
a piece of paper in
the baggie, or an
envelope.
We hold 4 contests
per school year. The
contests deadlines
are: October 17,
December 12,
February 20 & May 8.
Each week, the
leading class will get
the traveling trophy in
their classroom. The
winning class will
receive an extra
recess.
The items marked with
an astrisk (*) are the
ones that are
included in the
contest; however, all
of the painless
fundraisers are
important to raise
funds.

4 MCCALL ELEMENTARY COLT COMMUNITY
Volunteer Corner by Karen Buitrango
McCall PTA volunteers
enrich the lives of our
students, teachers,
and staff.
Volunteering is the
best way to help our
PTA provide the best
experience for your
child, as well as assist
our organization with
the many events and
activities that we
coordinate
throughout the year.
This year we are
asking parents to
participate in the
National PTA
“3forme” program.
Parents can volunteer
at home, in school,
and at our special
events—all of which
support student
learning. This way,
parents can volunteer
when they have time
during the day, in the
evening or on the
weekends. Tracking
cards will be sent
home in the take
home folders. Parents
& child will receive
special recognition
from the PTA for
completing 3 hours of
volunteer service this
year. Questions?

Teachers Need Our
Support! By Jana Neiman
An easy and fun way to
show your support is to
come and help in our
workroom. There are no
specific hours, you can
come anytime. Some
work you can even take
home. It involves
cutting, cutting out,
laminating and other
simple tasks.

News You Need by Jana Neiman
Starting in September we would like to make all school's
administration office and PTA's communication more
efficient as well as effective. Your child will be bringing
home a packet of information that requires your
attention every Thursday.
In this packet you will find principal's letters, book fair
announcements, flyers with upcoming events, after-
school programs, etc.
In order to make it work we will need the help of a
minimum of 3, or better yet 6 volunteers. Volunteers will
meet every Thursday morning for about one hour (exact
meeting time TBD upon agreement). We will assemble
packets that will be sent home with students. With six
volunteers we will be able to have 2 groups with each
group helping every other week (A group - odd weeks,
B group - even weeks).
Please contact Jana with your availability
or call Jana at 469 682 8096.
Volunteers are needed to help plan
the upcoming fall festival.
Our Fall Festival brings together
our community in games,
activities, food & great fun!
Do you want to help organize and
plan one of the best events of the
year?

McCall PTA Art Reflections Contest by Hsuan Chiu
Colt Champions…Colt Strong Give a shout out to these businesses who have pledged to support our McCall Colt Community.
Do you have a business or know a business who would like to show
their support for McCall? Contact Jayna Brennan at [email protected].
The PTA believes all
children deserve a
quality arts education
and encourages
students to pursue
artistic expression
through participation
in its annual arts
Reflections Program.
The Texas Reflections
program has the most
participation of any
PTA program with
entries totaling over
100,000 across the
state. The program
offers students the
opportunity to create
works of art for fun
and recognition.
Students in preschool
through grade 12 are
encouraged to
create and submit
works of art in six
areas: literature,
musical composition,
photography, the
visual arts, dance
choreography, and
film/video. In its 40+
year history, the
program has
encouraged millions
of students across the
nation and in
American schools
overseas to create
works of art. Each
year, the Reflections
Program challenges
students to create art
that interprets a
specific theme. If you
would like to get a
head start on this
year’s program, the
2014-2015 theme is:
“The World Would Be
A Better Place If…”
