It derived from the Inspectorate of the Army Aviation, which was founded in 1962. It is the highest body of command of the Army Aviation, the newest specialisation of the Italian Army. It is commanded by a Major General and depends on the headquarters of FOTER (the Operational Land Forces). The Army Aviation Headquarters commands: • The Brigade Army Aviation Unit, commanded by a Brigadier General, which includes all the operational units: 1 st Regiment “Antares” (Viterbo); 2 nd Regiment “Sirio” (Lamezia Terme); 4 th Regiment “Altair” (Bolzano); 28 th “Tucano” Battalion (Viterbo); “SOATCC” Battalion (Padova), “ITALAIR” (Lebanon), • The Brigade Army Aviation Training Unit, commanded by a Brigadier General, a training school for pilots, specialists, fire-fighting personnel, and aviation fuel personnel. The Army Aviation is equipped with the following helicopters: AB-205, AB-206, AB-212, AB-412, A109, A-129, CH-47C and planes: Dornier DO-228 and Piaggio P-180A. Il Comando dell’AVIAZIONE dell’ESERCITO è stato costituito a Viterbo il 1°ottobre 1997. Deriva dall’Ispettorato dell’Aviazione dell’Esercito, fondato nel 1962. È il massimo organo di Comando dell’“Aviazione dell’Esercito”, la più giovane Specialità dell’Esercito Italiano. È retto da un Maggior Generale e dipende dal Comando delle Forze Operative Terrestri (FOTER). Dal Comando Aviazione dell’Esercito dipendono: • La Brigata Aviazione dell’Esercito, retta da un Brigadier Generale, che riunisce tutte le Unità operative: 1° Reggimento “Antares” (Viterbo); 2° Reggimento “Sirio” (Lamezia Terme); 4° Reggimento “Altair” (Bolzano); 28° gr.sqd.“Tucano” (Viterbo); gr. “SOATCC” (Padova); sqd. “ITALAIR” (Libano); • il Centro Addestrativo Aviazione dell’Esercito, retto da un Brigadier Generale, scuola di formazione di piloti, specialisti, personale antincendio, addetti ai carburanti avio. L’Aviazione dell’Esercito ha in dotazione elicotteri AB-205, AB-206, AB-212, AB-412, A109, A-129, CH-47C ed aerei Dornier DO-228 e Piaggio P-180A

COMANDO AVIAZIONE DELL’ESERCITO

The Headquarters of the Army Aviation was constituted in Viterbo on the 1 st october 1997. It derived from theInspectorate of the Army Aviation, which was founded in 1962.

It is the highest body of command of the Army Aviation, the newest specialisation of the Italian Army. It iscommanded by a Major General and depends on the headquarters of FOTER (the Operational Land Forces).
