<COMBAT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM>

TACTICOSWorld’s favourite CMS for combat operations and maritime security operations

TACTICOS is a Combat Management System designed to provide full defence and security capabilities. It includes layered air defence, surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, coordinated naval gunfire support, ECM and full fighter, MPA, helicopter and UxV control, for today’s multi-role navies. It is aimed to equip major surface combatants typically frigates and destroyers with a wide and local area defence capability built on guided missiles, guns systems and torpedoes.

CO-ORDINATED PROJECTIONWhen point defence turns to area defence, the step in theatre size places extra challenges on the platform, its sensors and weapon systems and crucially, its Combat Management System. TACTICOS steps up to this challenge. It provides the extended capability to co-ordinate not only own ship engagements, but also those of a task force. Furthermore, it provides the management and sequencing for layered area defence over simultaneous engagement chains for the task force, protected High Value Units and land forces. Nowadays Maritime Security Operations (MSO) operations are a significant fraction of naval asset deployment profiles. Therefore TACTICOS provides information and intelligence rich capabilities and force planning, co-ordination and collaboration tools coupled with a wide range of military and commercial communications. Even the most complex, multi-agency task force MSO tasks are managed with TACTICOS on-board.PERSISTENT EVOLUTION Recognizing these world’s changing dynamics, and keeping with its philosophy of continuous improvement through constant innovation, Thales has introduced a new TACTICOS to address both maritime security and defence mission system needs. Modular, scaleable, adaptable and futureproofed, this latest CMS product line has been explicitly tailored to the tasks and missions of navies, coast guards and maritime security agencies.In improving what is already the world’s most popular CMS, Thales has given careful consideration to all aspects of system design and function. The result of this analysis is a refreshed TACTICOS incorporating new techniques and features based on three overriding principles: • optimised Command Team cohesion and

effectiveness • intrinsic scalability to suit specific platforms and/or

user applications • a product-oriented philosophy and accompanying

development roadmap
