What is CRS’ Operation Rice Bowl?

CRS’ Operation Rice Bowl offers simple yet powerful ways for parishes, schools and families to bring our Catholic faith to life during the holy season of Lent. The program provides resources for use in parish and school community settings, with complementary materials for families to foster their faith life in the home. By participating in the traditional Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving through CRS’ Operation Rice Bowl, the faithful in our diocese are making a positive difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters who are most in need.

CRS’ Operation Rice Bowl begins on

Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2012; and ends with Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012. To order your FREE materials today, call Elena Garcia, DPB CRS Coordinator at 561-775-9560 or via email: [email protected]

The Monastery Retreat themonasteryretreats.org

The retreat focuses on the wisdom of the monastery in order to explore how non-monastic men and women can incorporate contemplative monastic values and practices into their own lives. Retreatants will participate in presentations and discussions designed to explore how monastic values such as silence, humility, obedience, and community can be sources of spiritual enrichment in their own busy lives. Each day will include time for Lectio Divina on specific themes, as well as periods set aside for private prayer and silent meditation. In addition, retreatants will gather each day to pray Lauds, Vespers and Compline.
