On October 28, Serran’s at Christ the Good Shepherd celebrated our Priests by having everyone attending mass put on the sticker saying, “We Love Our Priests!” We also gave out a Holy Card with a prayer for our Priests. It was a big hit and everyone loved the idea and wear-ing the stickers.

Navy Seal, Seth Stone, grandson of Serran’s Chuck and Shirley Varsel, was killed Friday in a training accident. Our kind and wonderful grandson will live forever in our hearts. When Seth was not deployed he was on home res-cue missions flying to be with anyone in the family who needed help and comfort, an angel indeed. As Seth's mom, Debbie, reminded us Seth was tru-ly a hero with a gentle heart. Please keep Seth, Debbie, Heather and Alex (Seth's sister and brother) in your prayers as well as the rest of the family.

Ing this, Seth sought to became Harry's new owner and after a lot of red tape brought Harry to the states. The United States, unlike Australia, per-mitted entry with the type of virus Harry had picked up during his tour of duty. In just a few days Seth settled Harry in with his dad and returned to the battle field and at the end of that tour returned and picked up Harry. That year on his first Christmas home Seth drove across the country to sur-prise us and introduce Harry to his new extended family. It was a Merry Christmas. It is said that Sergeant Harry had more medals than Seth and we teased Seth about that. For sure they were the best of buddies.

Navy Seal with many decorated hon-ors, Seth Stone, and Serran Chuck & Shirley Varsel’s grandson’s, life was taken by a Navy skydiving training expedition in San Diego on Satur-day, Sept. 30th. I would like to share the story of Seth and his dog, Sergeant Har-ry. Harry was an Army dog as-signed to an Australian handler and trained to locate icd's. When Harry and his Australian handler were discharged Australia could not give Harry reentry due to a particular virus Harry had ac-quired overseas.. Harry was go-ing to be put down. Upon hear-

Celebrating Serran Pat Kocan’s birth-day. The next day she fell and broke her fe-mur & hip while at the nursing home giving Eucharist. Please keep Pat in your prayers. She has a long, tough road to recovery.

Favorite quotes from Pope Francis: “How do we pray? Do we pray piously and calmly out of habit or do we place ourselves courageously before the Lord to ask for grace, to ask for what we are praying for? Prayer that is not coura-geous is not real prayer.

DID YOU KNOW that there are special seminaries for men entering the priesthood later in life, seminaries where students range from ages 25 to 60? Many of these men have thought about being a priest at one time or another but, for whatever reason, pushed the idea to the back of their minds. They are men who have made a career change to a second vocation, the priesthood. They’re ordinary people, men who have been electricians, teachers, barbers, policemen, social workers, businessmen, farmers, dentists. Some are widowers, even grandfathers. Diverse though their backgrounds may be, they now share one aim in life: to be-come a priest and serve God’s people. Could you be one of them?
