Monday 12 October
Places, Faces and Fantasies Exhibition by David Rushforth
David Rushforth’s three photographic collage exhibitions offer an engaging and
interactive backdrop for Tairua Library’s Creativity Season. David’s aim was to create
collages from his collection of travel photographs by combining them in unexpected and
curious ways. David hopes the exhibition can be enjoyed by all ages and encourages
people to be creative in new ways and to think outside the square about the resources
available to them.

Tairua Troubadours: A Dramatic Exhibition
Be inspired by the extraordinary contribution to the Tairua community the Tairua
Troubadours have made with this lively dramatic display. Peruse the albums of years
worth of shows. Celebrate the highlights, the history, the memories and more.
Display open for all to enjoy throughout the Season of Creativity.

Tairua Adult Writers Group invite you, the closet-writer, the secret-scribbler, to a lively
and inspired workshop demonstrating the five benefits of writing with a
group. Designed to get tentative writers feeling confident and creative, and filled with
tips and tricks to activate your writing and enjoy yourself along the way.

The Dream Catcher Story Session for children - the author/photographer, Dhyana Muir
and the illustrator, Reina Cottier bring their newly published book to life in a special
story time for children.
The Dreamcatcher is a book that honours both daydreaming and night dreaming as a
unique creative force in children. Written to ignite and validate dreams and the power
of imagination, this beautiful book incorporates art, photography and lyrical storytelling,
designed to alleviate the fear of night dreaming and encourage parents and children to
discuss dreams in a way that supports the next generation of innovators and creatives.

The aim is Curiosity. The participants will take away a question to ponder and a desire
to research, explore and make discoveries relating to their question.

Unleash The Artist Within - Figjam Workshops and Retreats
Figjam Workshops and Retreats are the Coromandel Peninsula’s dynamic Creativity
Specialists. Tairua Library is proud to offer their expertise as part of Creativity Season.
This one-off workshop connects you to your innate creativity through a relaxing and
easy-to-follow process. Working with paint, collage, textile, paper, ink and oil sticks, you
will enjoy creating a unique piece of art of your own design. Success guaranteed! All
work will be completed on the day of the workshop.
9am-12pm
Registration required, 15 places available.
This workshop is being offered at a reduced rate to support the library.
$30 payment on registration at Tairua library.
All art materials, tuition and morning tea provided.

Workshop Two: Faces
This is an open forum, where participants will be children, adults and aged care
residents. The focus is on storytelling and story sharing, using David's 'Faces' themed
photographs as a springboard for enquiry.

Fuel for Inspiration by Figjam Workshops and Retreats
Figjam Workshops and Retreats, the Coromandel Peninsula’s dynamic Creativity
Specialists, will facilitate this four Monday mornings in November workshop
programme, designed to incorporate elements of creativity, fun, relaxation and personal
development. Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look
at things in a different way. The Fuel for Inspiration Programme offers all participants
the tools for creating a more meaningful and sustainable future.
Tuition, quality art materials and resource packs provided.
Registrations required - 15 places available.
Attendance required for all four sessions of the four week programme.

Creative Play for Child Development
Celebrating the importance of creative play and how it helps children develop skills
needed for formal learning. Educator, Nel Bracegirdle invites parents to a discussion
and sharing of resources to empower parents to recognise, enhance and support their
young children's creativity. Participants will explore the kind of activities and
experiences that will help their children develop specific foundation skills. It will also be
a time to share experiences, ideas and resources. Relevant for all parents with children
under seven years.

Gallerist Sarah Holden shares the unique story of 'The Little Gallery of Fine Arts and how
it's become a renowned destination gallery on the Coromandel Peninsula. Join Sarah
and the artists she champions, in an intimate forum discussion about the nature of
creating and curating art, and their unique, collaborative approach to running the
gallery. An opportunity to listen, learn and be inspired by practising Coromandel
Creatives.

Photography field trip with Dhyana Muir
Join Photographer Dhyana Muir, on an exploration around Tairua, looking with new
eyes, using the lens in different ways and exploring use of light. The field trip will begin
at Tairua Library where Dhyana will share her experiences of photographing models and
actors professionally, and how she uses the medium of photography to create Art. The
field trip will include a visit to Dhyana’s studio, where she will share her processes and
editing techniques. This field trip will suit beginning photographers and experienced
photographers who are stuck in technicalities, wanting inspiration.

Earth Ship Te Timatanga - An Odyssey in Creativity
Meet Sarah Rowe and Gus Anning, the owners and creators of the Coromandel’s first
Earth Ship. An earthship is a passive solar house buried into the ground, that
incorporates the use of natural and recycled materials, including earth-rammed car
tyres, cans and bottles. Gus and Sarah share their story so far, from inception to near-
completion, and the creativity, community-building and innovation that has made their
journey so extraordinary.

Tairua artist Reina Cottier has not let living in a small-town Tairua prevent her art
reaching a global audience in the tens of thousands. With an extraordinary online
following from art lovers across the globe, Reina’s definitive Pacific-style paintings put
New Zealand firmly on the international art radar. Tairua Library is delighted to host
Reina in conversation with the community; sharing her insights and experiences as a
full-time professional artist and demonstrating her painting process.

encouraging teens to seek inspiration out of everyday life.
